Here are the list of longest-serving US State Governors:

1.) Terry Branstad (R): IA's 39th & 42nd Governor from January 14th, 1983 to January 15th, 1999; January 14th, 2011 to May 22nd, 2017: elected in 1982 & reelected in 1986, 1990, 1994, 2010 & again in 2014 before resigning to become POTUS Trump's US Ambassador to PRC.

2.) George Clinton (DEM-REP): NY St's 1st Governor from July 30th, 1777 to June 30th, 1795; July 1st, 1801 to June 30th, 1804.

3.) William Janklow (R): SD's 27th & 30th Governor from January 1st, 1979 to January 6th, 1987; January 7th, 1995 to January 7th, 2003.

4.) George Corley Wallace, Jr., (D): AL's 45th Governor from January 14th, 1963 to January 16th, 1967; January 18th, 1971 to January 15th, 1979; January 17th, 1983 to January 19th, 1987.

5.) James Baxter Hunt (D): NC's 69th & 71st Governor from January 8th, 1977 to January 5th, 1985; January 9th, 1993 to January 6th, 2001.

You missed George Clinton, governor of New York from 1777-1795, and 1801-1804 for a total tenure of 21 years.

In other words: Cuomo will remain in the NY St Executive Mansion in Albany as long as he wants.
