Lol not even close.

Why on God's green Earth did she push for this so hard and ruin so much of her image and political capital? Did she really think LaSalle had a chance?

Like her predecessor, Hochul is operating under the notion that the proper way to govern as a Democrat is to spit on the party's left flank while appealing to right-wingers. This may have worked well during the Clinton era but is now largely obsolete (and I believe this is a major reason why Democrats underperformed in NY in 2021-22).
This is different.

You know Cuomo wouldn't have gotten in this mess.

Cuomo is the reason the maps were struck down. He he picked better judges, Democrats might have done even better in the State Senate and maybe even kept the House.
It's different, in that Cuomo would have known to either not fight a war in public over this or to get him confirmed without a fuss.

Can you imagive Cuomo threatening to sue his own party over LaSalle ?
Or Cuomo failing to get his way in private to confirm him ?

Yes, I can imagine both those things happening very easily.  Cuomo wasn’t some sort of political genius.

Can you remember a fuss this big over any in this very long list of Cuomo's judicial appointments ?

What a slapdown by your own party.

What will LeSalle do to Hochul’s family now!

Idk if this is the appropriate place to put this but one of the worse things about Hochul is she could get this woman out of prison tomorrow but refuses to do it. She killed her partner in self defense and was sentenced to 19 years in prison and got it appealed down to 7.5 years. She has two young kids. He raped her and posted the videos on PornHub and the prosecution got them deemed as inadmissible because they were anonymously uploaded.

It sickens me how often jury trials get DV wrong and women get punished for defending themselves and their children from their abusers.

Hochul should give this a rest. I don't know why he's wasting that much political capital for a guy who's according to most Atlas Democrats medicore at best (obviously I can't judge him, so relying on the posts here). Somehow it feels like she bungled a good start after taking over from Cuomo. Maybe it's time for someone new in four years?

Who the hell is this LaSalle guy and why does he not back out? Why Hochul seem damned d determined to put him on the court? This whole mess defies logic and reason. If this was a federal appointment he likely would’ve been dropped months ago or withdraw his own name.

Goes to show we need to revive the political question doctrine at the state court level.

Democrats are in trouble in New York and Hochul is busy digging deeper.

I can guess that Democrats are probably wishing that Hochul had lost.

From the Dem perspective four years of gridlock with Zeldin might have been better and given a good platform for 2026.

Both will be easily confirmed.

Wilson is a solid liberal. Halligan is a bit of a blank slate but clerked for Breyer and was nominated for a judgeship by Obama (blocked by the GOP) so should be ok, although not as liberal as Wilson.

Wilson argued the old 22-4 map was not a gerrymander in his dissent LMAO. The new map is getting overturned.

You mean the current map and the Hochulmander will be restored? Ergo, good news for Democrats in 2024?

This makes the fight over Hector LaSalle look even more psychotic. Maybe she saw the party's reaction to Wisconsin and wanted in on it.
