Bill De Blasio not ruling out a primary challenge to Cuomo.

Quote
Term-limited Mayor Bill de Blasio refused Monday to rule out a run for governor while his nemesis — embattled Gov. Andrew Cuomo —grapples with multiple investigations over sexual harassment accusations and his handling of the coronavirus.

De Blasio, who completes his term for mayor on Dec. 31, was asked point blank during a press conference whether he would run for governor in 2022. He did not close the door.

“I have not ruled in or ruled out anything. I have not made any decisions about the future,” de Blasio said.

The Post reported in March that de Blasio was talking to advisers about a potential run for governor next year while three-term Democratic incumbent Cuomo is mired in scandal.

deBlasio would give Zeldin a chance at victory....he'd win Long Island, and potentially make de Blasio limited to only winning Westchester, NYC without Staten Island and maybe Erie and Albany counties...

You're delusional.

By the way, why the f**k is Cuomo still in office?

I agree with Bronz on the map, however that map by itself would be enough for DeBlasio to win.

Zeldin needs to win at least one non Staten Island New York City borough, or win Westchester in addition to Long Island to have a realistic shot.

I agree, Zeldin has no chance at winning, even DeBlasio would win by at least ten points.

Cuomo is still in office because Assembly speaker Carl Heastie is protecting him, which is a true disgrace.

I wonder if James doesn't run, if former Comptroller Bill Thompson or Carl McCall or Steve Bellone will run...

He's more likely to be impeached by the end of the month than he is to be governor by January, 2023.

What about Steve Bellone?

What would be his biggest downsides other than being a centrist Democrat from Suffolk County who is cozy with cop unions?

Looks like things are moving, as far as a post-Cuomo governorship is concerned. Early on the compromise with Cuomo's allies was "wait for the investigation, if it's truly nothing then people will forget" but things did not work out that way at all.

He's cooked. This feels far more substantial than the previous incarnation of this scandal.

I very much doubt he’s going to resign. His response denied the allegations and called one of his accusers a liar.

I'm glad that my party is finally holding our Trump to account. Imagine the AG of Florida going after Trump like this. The two parties are simply not the same

Not to deflect the subject, he learned from Biden on Tara Reade and Bill Clinton on Lewinsky, MARIO CUOMO, HIS DAD DEFENDED BILL CLINTON, HE LEARNED FROM THE TWO

She is far from guaranteed to make it out of a primary. James is a better bet. She can placate both wings of the party.

Instead of Governor Hochul, James, Bellone or Suozzi, why not

Governor Hillary Rodham Clinton?

Why won't Hillary want to run? She is bored, she could make history as the first female governor

New York Yankees president and lawyer Randy Levine may run for governor as a Republican I can see....Levine is a MAGAite, a disciple of Rudy Giuliani and could be electable than Zeldin because of his political and sports contacts.....

Do you see it happening?

Kathy Hochul would be the first female governor if Cuomo resigns or is impeached.
