Three NYC candidates vs. one Upstate? I think Hochul has this in the bag, especially being the incumbent.

Hyde Park was probably considered upstate in 1928.

Meanwhile, Hochul is raising a ton of cash. Good for her.

Hochul campaign says the governor has raised $10M since August

Quote
Gov. Kathy Hochul’s campaign on Friday said that the Democrat has amassed $10 million since she assumed office in August after Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo resigned amid accusations of sexual harassment.

Hochul’s campaign said the former lieutenant governor now has $11.1 million on hand for the 2022 race for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination and for the general election. In all, the campaign said she has raised $12 million during the June-January cycle monitored by the state Board of Elections.

Hochul had set a goal of $10 million by the end of this year and $25 million by next summer.

By comparison, Cuomo had about $18 million in his campaign fund in July while in his third term and political observers considered that a significant war chest.

Hochul's fundraising impressed some political observers, and sent a message to her political rivals.

Big wildcard here - experienced in a political setting but untested as a candidate, good resume but very little charisma, strong anti-Trump credentials but potential prosecutorial history that could be problematic in a Dem primary.

Any Dem for AG other than Blue Trump Cuomo, who's teasing a run.

Dem primary is Likely Hochul at this point; Williams and James will cost each other the most votes. DeBlasio entering would even make it close to Safe Hochul.

Williams and de Blasio can't win.

Hochul, James or Suozzi can win.

I see Kathleen Rice and Sean Patrick Maloney running for AG in 2022 or 2026

Anti-Vax protesters supporting Rob Astorino displayed a swastika and a yellow Star of David outside a Jewish State Assemblyman's office.

Quote
Protesters rallying against vaccination mandates displayed a swastika and yellow Star of David on Sunday outside the office of New York state Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz, who is Jewish.

The crowd gathered in the Bronx to protest a bill sponsored by Dinowitz, a Democrat, that requires that children be immunized against Covid-19 to attend school. The rally was organized by Rob Astorino, a Republican candidate for governor.

Dinowitz slammed the display of the symbols as "repugnant and offensive."

“I am disgusted and offended by the anti-Semitic imagery that was brought to my office by apparent supporters of Rob Astorino’s failing gubernatorial campaign," Dinowitz said in a statement Sunday. "People are free to express their opinions on vaccine policy and on any issue, but I draw the line at swastikas. ...

"[T]o stand next to swastikas and yellow Stars of David outside of a Jewish legislator’s office shows a lack of integrity at best and an embrace of right-wing extremism at worst. This is not who New York needs as Governor," he added.

Looking forward to see all the political careers of these clowns ended in defeat. They're desperately attempting to replace a scandal-free governor who has governed like a Mainstream Democrat just for opportunistic reasons.

Jumaane is the only one who will still be in elected office and may run for something else (like congress) in the future.

For a long while, I had thought that Hochul would sail to the nomination without difficulty or substantive opposition. I'm surprised that both James and Williams decided to go for it. Their ambition and desire for greater political power clearly won out over other considerations. And DeBlasio is disgracing himself by pursuing a run.

It really will be the Hochul landslide by plurality we were all guessing about a few months ago. Not that many Dems upstate, but if everything south of White Plains is divided between infinite candidates and everything north is a Hochul win by a 40% margin on average, well...

LOL, clown car incoming.

I dunno why that many candidates think they have much of a chance. Other than Hochul, only James is at least a longshot. Perhaps we're seeing some dropouts before the primary is actually around the corner.

If he just wanted to walk out of Congress, but not out of politics, a much better option for him was to accept Adams' proposal. And now he will lose by landslide and will be done with politics forever

If Suozzi loses the primary, he can run for Nassau County Executive, his old job from 2002-2009 and he could beat Blakeman in 2025

Lol, you are clueless. Hochul is the third least popular governor in America according to a recent poll. She will face a strong primary challenge by someone who doesn't appoint Bloomberg retreads to their advisory team.

You are aware that many said they didn't;t have an opinion in the most recent approval polls.

Yes, but approval below 50 is never a sign that a candidate is untouchable.

Also, lol at the people thinking Suozzi is going to split the NYC vote. Nobody in NYC gives a rat's ass about him. He will cut squarely into Hochul's base as a moderate.

Many people don't know her. Only time will tell if he does. I still think Hochul has the advantage.
