https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darien,_Connecticut#Government_and_politics

Extremely wealthy town and has probably never voted Democrat until 2016
Went from Titanium GOP Pre 2008 with reliable +30 GOP margins and usually +40 and almost +60 in 1984.
Due to the Financial Crisis + suburban trends Obama came within single digits in 2008
However Romney won it by the usual 30 points and did better than Bush.
However Trump was hated by the ultra rich so much that he not only lost it but he lost by 12 points.
In 2018 some of the roots did return but Blumenthal still won it and the local congressman almost won it. Obviously Lamont got rekt.

Likely D, closer to safe than lean. Maybe Trump rebounds a bit based off how Darien voted in 2018 (both Corey and Stefanowski won it) but I doubt he flips it.

If Biden: Safe D
If Sanders: Probably still Lean D, though Schultz will have his best performance in the entire country here and it's probably one of the few places where he'll crack double digits.

Yeah I do agree this is actually one of the areas where Sanders could do worse than other candidates but it won't be returning to Romney numbers or even Mccain numbers tbh. UMC  #resistance burbs aren't really hurt by the socialism of Warren/Bernie. They are hurt a bit but not greatly. But super rich Darien is like 50% investment banker and we might see it reach a pretty close margin.

If Biden is the nominee than obviously Safe D. If Sanders or Warren are the nominee, tossup, and that might be generous to them.

Trump got his ass kicked by Biden in Darien,CT losing by a 22.7%. Even Himes won this town for the first time in 2020 after losing it every year since 2008. Can any downballot republican win Darien in 2022?

COVID changed everything.  2020 was supposed to be an economic election; Trump had a good economy until COVID

This is the sort of place that will not be flipping back, even if the GOP does rebound a little in the suburbs. Darien is so, so highly educated.

Yes because Biden won low income voters and Trump won high income. That's definitely the party of the bourgeois!!

And in any case, that changes nothing about the actual policies, of which one party is firmly on the side of the monied interest, and one mostly isn't.

you guys take exit polls way too seriously.  the same Trump people who lied to pollsters about who they'd vote for are probably also lying about their incomes and education levels as well.  It doesn't check out that Democrats win all the rich towns and counties by large margins but somehow the wealthy are voting Republican.  Yeah the millionaires and billionaires are but the UMC isn't, at least not anymore.
