The abortion battle lines are clear. For the foreseeable future no Democratic candidate will put a pro-life veep on the ticket; no Republican will put a pro-choice veep.

Convention floor fights and drama will probably ensue.

Don't you think?

I wonder how Bob Casey and Dan Lipniski and Lisa Murkowski and Charlie Baker feel.

There was always a much higher chance of the latter, so this is an improvement (if true).

This is in-line with my personal expectations/standards about political candidates: the higher up the office, the more progressive they should be. This is why, for example, I would back Steve Bullock for Senate or even for House, but not in the Democratic presidential primary.

If the GOP keeps moving in the direction it currently is, we'll probably see a GOP running mate who supports mandatory abortions for non-whites before too long.

Yeah, if either major party nominee was stupid enough to put a pro-life Democrat or a pro-choice Republican on their respective ticket, then there'd definitely be a risk of a floor fight, if not a guarantee. For example, this is a reason why McCain ended up not tapping Lieberman as his running mate in 2008 (notwithstanding the fact, of course, that he was also a former Democrat who'd ran against the GOP alongside Al Gore in 2000).

As for Casey & Lipniski & Murkowski & Baker, they likely don't care.

Casey calls himself pro-life, but his voting record aligns significantly in support of abortion rights. He's a reliable vote in support of abortion rights (scoring as high as 100% on NARAL Pro-Choice America's vote tally in 2016 & 2017), & anti-abortion groups know he's no champion of their cause.

The DCCC raises funds for Lipinski as if he's a regular incumbent, despite his vehement opposition to abortion rights, so something tells me he doesn't care about the abortion rights support (or hypothetical lack thereof) of someone on the Democratic ticket considering the party treats him pretty well, working against its most important pro-choice allies in a district that a pro-choice candidate could still easily win.

Re: Murkowski & Baker -- Murkowski & Collins (the other pro-choice GOP senator) keep voting For Trump's anti-abortion judicial nominees, & Baker has also signaled discomfort with pushes to expand abortion access in Massachusetts, so it doesn't seem like they'd prioritize there being or not being a pro-choice Republican on the ticket.
