It's the battle of the super prudes. I'd vote for Preston though, because at least he's good on economic issues.

Super prude battles are awesome. I'd vote for myself but it would be tough because of Preston's strength in the south.

I'll try at a map, I guess. I usually make these for match-ups I think our good:

Keystone Phil/PBrunsel (R): 271 Electoral Votes

Cosmo Kramer/Ilikeverin (D): 267 Electoral Votes

States like Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, Oregon, New Hampshire, and New Jersey I was not sure about. Would the Rust Belt be stronger for the populist?

It would be a very hard choice, though clearly Keystone Phil is closer to my stance on the issues than Cosmo Kramer.

I think that map is pretty accurate but WI might swing my way. Preston's populist message would help but a socially conservative Catholic might energize some voters up there.

I'll venture a map here:

Preston: 280
Phil: 258

Maine and New Jersey might not be thrilled with a Kramer candidacy for the Dems but I doubt I could win those two states.

It would be a close one that could really go either way (many southern states like FL, TN, LA and KY would be closer than usual) but I think I could squeeze by....

Me 278
Phil 260
Most of the South is a toss up for much of the campaign.  In the end the closest states are Oregon, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.  Phil pulls off narrow wins in Oregon and Wisconsin (both partly due to lower Democratic turnout and Republican gains in affluent suburban areas) but I take Kentucky, Tennessee, and Ohio giving me the victory.

Preston/Preston

Preston would win enough of the south and keep enough of the Midwest and Northeast to ensure a victory.

I don't see Phil taking as much of the south as the rest of you do. Sure, he's socially conservative, but no more than Preston is, and I'd think tie in that case would go to the home son. Phil is very socially conservative, but he couldn't fool anyone if he went around the South acting like he was from there. Everything about Preston is southern, and while everything about Phil is conservative, not too much is particularly southern.

Both are socially conservative, so the issues would come down to economics.

Shouldn't Preston win in a landslide?  Right-wing Wall Streeters aren't a very big voting bloc.  And why wouldn't the populist Dakotas, Nebraska, Kansas, and Oklahoma vote for Preston?  Aren't these states populist?
