People with last names starting with "Mc" don't tend to do well in presidential elections for some odd reason.

Uh, we only have two examples of that in modern times (McGovern and McCain), and both were basically doomed from the start given the economic and partisan climate at the time. Not exactly the largest sample size, I think other factors than the “Mc” were probably more important.

McAdoo, MacArthur, MacBride, McCarthy, McCloskey, McCormack, McCotter, McKinney, MacNider. Usually the McPresident Curse gets them before they can even get nominated.
McCormack was the Mass delegations favoruite son and MacBride won his nomination in 1976
