Controversial Pennsylvania State Rep. Brian Sims, a white gay man, is in the news for harassing a pro-life woman outside a Philadelphia Planned Parenthood facility.

Can Sims win citywide in Philadelphia? Can Sims win statewide in Pennsylvania? How would he do in the Philadelphia Main Line suburbs?

The pro-lifers (as always) instigated the fight. LOL if you think he’d ever lose a city-wide race in Philadelphia as a Democrat.

Instigated the fight how?

They didn't threaten to dox anyone, or hunt folks down.

Maybe you're OK with doxxing.

Maybe you're a full bore scumbag.

Yes, standing in front of a health clinic and shoving your religious values down the throats of women trying to get health care is instigation.

First of all, that's the RIGHT of individuals.  People have the RIGHT to publicly demonstrate.  They don't have the right to block ingress and egress, but they have the right to demonstrate, and demonstrate in eyesight and earshot of the clinic's employees and users.

Second of all, abortion is not healthcare; it's infanticide, no matter how legal it may be.

Brian Sims is a scumbag, pure and simple.  Quite frankly, you appear to be in his league.  When someone doxxes you and gives you grief in your own residence, I'll not agree with the person that does it, but you won't have my sympathy.

Citywide, he would win if he was the Democratic nominee, but I don't think he would get the Democratic nomination.  Outside of Philly, I don't think he would fare well.  Swing and light (non-Atlas) blue areas would probably reject him.  A CD like PA-7 would be close and he would lose PA-6.

The dirty old papist ladies with their spooky rosaries and the terrifying teenage girls who won't give out their addresses to their street harasser... have instigated a vicious attack on the large burly bear of a man.

A good reminder that when we talk about "oppressed groups" we really mean "people who agree with me." Oppressors are those who disagree. I do have some sympathy – simple vocal disagreement really is a brutal attack when your position can't withstand dissent.

Crazy how anti choice fanatics can routinely harass women outside of clinics with no backlash but when someone does it to them suddenly there's an outcry.

Exactly. Sims should run for POTUS; he's an inspiration.

Unfortunately Pennsylvania is too deplorable to elect a hero like Brian Sims statewide.

Freedom of speech. People have the right to protest in front of abortion clinics as long as it is peaceful.

They probably should not do it, they should probably protest the politicians that are pro-choice or pro-abortion or whatever, but it is freedom of speech.

Sims is very hysterical.

Abortion is a very divisive issue.

Sims never suggested they don't have the (legal) right to protest in front of abortion clinics. He just said that, as you said, "they should not do it," because it's immoral. So your point is kind of moot.

If it convinces a few of them to reconsider infanticide, 100% worth it.

So that's really the values here? We can scream bloody murder in the face a young woman going through one of the most difficult traumatic decisions of her life but it's okay because my Billy Bob Jesus says it's okay. But if someone yells back at someone even if they're being quiet, then they're bastards. And all because you're right and we're wrong?

Got it. Truly compelling argument.

Sims has had two competitive primaries both in presidential years. He won 3,759 to 3,524 in his inaugural campaign, got that same opponent kicked off the ballot in 2014 and won 6,065 (40.2%) to 5,151 (34.14%) as the two-term incumbent in a four-way.

He's just lucky his district covers the Gayborhood where he can pal around or he would not even be a State Assemblyman. Thankfully Dwight Evans is locked into the Congressional seat he so covets.

These margins are small enough that it is reasonable to be able to mobilize against him. Italian Market is sliced in half, but maybe some of the upscale west-siders will do something.

Could he win the Italian Market? Could he win Northeast Philadelphia?

Sims is pretty garbage even as a state representative goes. He's the ultimate example, for me, of someone getting elected because they're good-looking. I really hope he's primaried successfully; it doesn't even need to be an anti-abortion Democrat, just one who doesn't think intimidating young girls is good politics.
