I'm surprised no one has started a thread on this topic before.

On the event this happened, despite not wanting to admit it, I would say he has to pick Warren to have a good chance to not make a heated campaign more so

Kamala Harris. She's just the perfect match, but I'm not sure Biden makes it to the nomination.

Baldwin would be good. Michelle would be good too, although I doubt she'd do it. And so would Klobuchar, so would Duckworth, so would perhaps Warren (especially if a unity ticket becomes necessary), etc. I used to think Harris would be ideal too but not so sure about that now. Maybe Abrams.

One thing I am pretty certain of is he will need a woman first and foremost, and probably a woman from a contested state/region. Probably a woman of color will be a plus.

Abrams would be good. Baldwin serves as the contrast to Pence + it’ll hopefully tip Wisconsin over. Maybe as an outside bet Ayanna Pressley? If he narrowly wins the primary over Warren he’d need to do something to appeal to the left of the party and that’d be a pretty big gesture.

To unite (which will certainly need to happen), i think a Biden - Warren ticket would be best. Wouldn't like it though either. VP isn't that important. The Tammy's would be better in the administration.

And give an AZ seat away because one woman who basically could receive a lot of criticism turns out to be centrist enough for Biden. I think in times of polarization, it's important not to go too centrist. The president needs to be an inspiring pick. While the VP needs to add balance to the ticket. If the president isn't inspiring, and the Democrats are divided, giving away an AZ seat for someone who doesn't add a whole to the ticket, isn't going to help. Unless we want a 1984 cycle (in 2020 style though) to happen.

Definitely not a white guy, and definitely not someone who is more centrist than him. I think he'd also be smart to go for someone who is younger and is acceptable to both Bernie and Warren (who might be offered Sec. of Treasury if Biden goes the Team of Rivals route). Michelle Obama would be an awesome choice, but it doesn't seem plausible that she'd accept.

Non-white, female: Stacey Abrams, Cortez-Masto, Duckworth, Harris, Sharice Davids
Non-white, male: Anthony Foxx, Castro, Ben Ray Lujan, Booker
White, female: Baldwin, Whitmer
Sui generis but still short list-worthy: Warren

How would this ticket do? My gut says Biden would get a lot of minority voters and Lamb would take the WWC from 2016 back to 2012 margins. PA would also be Lean D at a minimum.

It would beat Trump, but I don't think it would excite the Dem base.

We don't just need to beat Trump.  We need to DESTROY him.  We need to win this election by double digits.

Why?  So we can drag the down-ballot races along for the ride.  If we beat Trump by 3-4 points, whoop de do.  If we beat Trump by ten points, we win the Senate and make strong gains in the House.  Probably pull along some governorships too.

To accomplish this, we need a ticket that can appeal to and excite as many coalitions as possible.  We need WWC voting for us.  We need record minority turnout.  We need, as much as I hate to say it, the extremely online leftist crowd to be 100% on board and churning the youth vote.

Eh. Too white and doesn’t have any appeal to the left. It would certainly beat Trump in Pennsylvania by a nice margin.

I would be happy with it, but a woman with some sort of ethnic or regional appeal would be a much better draw.

I like Lamb as a "sleeper pick" for Warren, but I think he'd be a terrible pick for Biden. As a relatively moderate old white dude, Biden really needs someone who will appeal at least somewhat to progressives. That person doesn't necessarily have to be as left-wing as AOC (yes, I know that she's not old enough anyway), but I think a ticket of two centrist white guys would be a real problem for turnout, and would give the Green Party a shot in the arm.

what about someone like Biden/Nanette Barragan? She's progressive, young, Latina, and has been in the news a decent amount.

Lmao, just no. Lamb is fine, but not as Biden's running mate. He should challenge Pat Toomey in 2022. Joe Biden would be well advised with a minority and/or female running mate. If he wants someone from the House, Nanette Barragan is an excellent choice. She's in her early/mid 40s, latina, has no baggage as it seems and in line with the Democratic mainstream or somewhat more progressive than Uncle Joe.

I didn't read your post minutes prior to mine, but interesting we have the same opinion here.

A young white guy with 2 1/2 years of experience in Congress does not seem like a good choice for Biden, especially when Biden should be dominating in Pennsylvania already.
