This is actually a pretty smart move on Sturgeon's part, tactically speaking. She's only pledging a 2nd independence referendum by May 2021 if the UK does leave the EU, & that caveat is important. Yeah, there's no majority for Scottish independence right now, but Brexit changes everything. This basically gives her (& Remainers alike) free reign to ask Nigel Farage & Jacob Rees-Mogg whether they care about the territorial integrity of the UK.

If Brexit is messy, I can only imagine what Scottish independence would look like...I'm holding out hope that the UK just remains in the EU so this will not come to pass, but I wouldn't blame the Scots for trying again if things go (further) south.
