Rasmussen:

A Rasmussen Reports Election 2006 poll finds DeWine trailing challenger Paul Hackett by a single point, 42% to 41%. Five percent (5%) say they’d vote for someone else while 12% are undecided…

Democratic Congressman Ted Strickland holds a six-point lead over two possible Republican candidates in the race to become Ohio’s next Governor.

Strickland leads Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell by a 42% to 36% margin. Six percent (6%) say that they would prefer a third party candidate and 15% are not sure.

Strickland leads former Congressman John Kasich 39% to 33%. This match-up leads 7% to prefer some other candidate and 21% are undecided.

Kasich is not running...

I think Strickland is going to wallup coleman in the primary.  It looks like he has the momentum and he just received the endorsements of a large number of the state's democratic legislators....

I wish Coleman would drop out and challenge Pat Tibieri in OH-12...

Tibieri doesn't represent all of Columbus.  A lot of his district is composed of surburbs in Licking and Delaware Counties, and the northern part of Franklin County.  Coleman would be better suited to running in Deborah Pryce's district, which has more of Columbus in it.

I think I read that Coleman may run for lt. governor. Is than an elected position in Ohio or would he serve as Strickland's running mate?

Gubernatorial elections work on a ticket system here.  Coleman could run as Strickland's running mate, and that would probably be a very formidable ticket, IMO.

Actually, Coleman has already run for Lt. Gov. in 1998, but he lost.

OK, thank you. I think there's a good chance that Strickland would pick him as his running mate.

Barring a big swing in the national GOP's favor in the next year, Strickland should win by about 8 points.

I like Coleman, naturally I like Strickland better though Smiley

Overall I think Coleman’s most likely to run as Strickland’s running mate, he’d be a good foil to a Blackwell lead GOP ticket, what’s more he brings solid executive experience to the ticket to complement Strickland’s excellent record as a law maker.

I saw a TV ad the other night about Jim Petro. I think he's going to run, also.
