Normally $3 million is very good, especially for a state the size of Maine. It just looks bad by comparison to Gideon.

Hot damn. There is really no good reason for there to not be a high-quality external in this race.

There has, it's just been since March/April. I'm sure we'll get more after the primary or Labor Day since this is one of the core Senate races.

It's not good to brag about how much $$$ you raised and tax payers are paying for Congressional checks anyways 100K a yr. That's why Jesse Jackson Jr got put in jail, his wife Sandy was dipping into the pot of Lottery funds in ILLINOIS.  After that testimony Blago and Jesse Jackson Jr was put in jail. I dont care how much money you raise, it's all from tax payers.

I am gonna continue to say this until she does better, that's why Gideon is 8 points down to Collins and no, you cant assume third party candidate voters will coalesce around Gideon. Hillary assumed Gary Johnson voters will coalesce around her and she lost. ME isnt a  minority populated state, where minorities can turn out in favor of Ds

Not necessarily opposed at least in this instance but it’s not my board.

I'm still shocked there are people who don't have this guy muted. I have mentioned before that his comments are almost like a Markov Chain bot, but the fact that there are replies to comments prevents this from being a possibility. You don't lose anything from muting him since all comments often go on extreme tangents unhelpful to the overall discussion.

So, Steyer wants to overturn citizens united and create more campaign finance regulations, but he can't even follow the regulations that already exist? Such a hypocrite. I say Life in Prison for Steyer!

Not sure if you realize this, but the votes of an energized Democratic base which will foam at the mouth no matter what Collins does won’t be enough to beat her. It would be enough in pretty much any other "blue" state, but not in ME.

It’s not like Gideon hasn’t received negative press or only Collins has been subjected to attack ads (especially recently), so not sure why this is so incredibly hard to believe.

I always like to snoop around these candidates' Facebook pages to get a feel for their campaigns. With Mark Kelly you have astronaut, Cunningham has military cred, Bullock talks about Montana bipartisanship, Greenfield worked on a farm. Sara Gideon's messaging is basically bland liberal. There's no attempt to portray herself as bipartisan and independent. Maybe she can win off the backs of an energized liberal base, but I think ceding the "independent" lane to Collins is a mistake that could hurt her.

I mean, if the national environment doesn’t improve or only gets worse for Republicans, my guess would be that Collins (narrowly) loses, but assuming that this seat will be a slam dunk or is already gone for Republicans would be a mistake. Collins has lost a lot of support over the last few years, but she might not need that many Biden voters to eke out a win.

Who said she was ceding the independent lane to Collins? Since when does Collins have an independent lane as she has stood with Republicans on every vote the past 4 years?

Not really sure I understand the take of "Even an energized Dem base won't give Gideon a win" - there are more registered Democrats in Maine, and Independents have seemed to sour on Collins. What else does Gideon need then?

The few polls that we've gotten have shown that Collins approval rating has soured on all fronts. Collins only raised $3M, Gideon raised $9M.

The national environment is terrible for Republicans right now.

I'm not really sure where this sudden optimism of "Titanim Collins" is coming from, when all evidence that we have, other than a *Republican Internal* that only has Collins at 45%, is not showing a pro-Collins race.
