I had no idea abortion was illegal in South Korea in the first place. I'd be curious to see whether there's an explicit right to privacy or to security of person/bodily integrity/bodily autonomy in the South Korean constitution or whether this is a Roe-style inference from other rights.

No it isn't.

Bottom line, of course, is that abortions will happen regardless of whether they are legal or not.

I can't believe I'm saying this but could we rather use "recommend" instead of empty-quoting here?

What does Moon Jae-In have to do with this?
He is the head of the reformist-oriented Democratic Party. His party voted it in and he accepted it through.

How did his party vote it in if this was a court decision?

I no longer like Moon Jae-in now.  And here I thought cultural decay was limited to the West and Japan.

From the link:

Quote
“That we can debate the constitutionality of abortion laws at the moment is because we were born from our mothers without being aborted. We were all fetuses."

No it isn't.

Bottom line, of course, is that abortions will happen regardless of whether they are legal or not.

People will also stab each other whether it’s legal or illegal, but that doesn’t mean there’s a constitutional right to stab people.

The bottom line is that many people consider abortion the ending of a human life, and just as many people don’t. We’ve been having this debate for how many decades and people still don’t understand this?

Because a ball of cells is *not* a human life, basically.

Time limits on abortion tend to be set where they are for a reason.

Any multicellular organism can be described as simply “a clump of cells.” You’re a clump of cells, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t a human life.
