Wait... am I seeing this right? She's up 12 now? Holy crap!

Must be an error, since it shows her winning Waukesha by 24.

Some numbers about diversity in the state Legislature.  There are now 10 Black legislators between the senate and assembly, including one Republican.  The first Asian American Representative took office this year as well.

There are now 41 female legislators, or about 31%, up from 34 in the last cycle.  About 2/3 are Dem, but GOP women had the most gains.

I'd actually be curious to know how many black, Hispanic, Asian and LGBT+ Republican state legislators there are nationwide - I know there's an openly gay Republican assemblyman in Wisconsin.

What about the judical and special elections ?

Davis (D) got stomped in District 2.

District 3 is close but only 19% in
Was that expected ?

More or less, yes,  district 2 is literally WoW plus some of eastern WI (also Republican).   It was always going to be tough for a liberal to hold here.

I remember Neubauer managed to win reelection in that district last spring. I don't understand how that could have possibly happened.

Ambassador to Luxembourg seems like just about the cushiest position imaginable.

Surprised he wants Duffy to run; maybe he perceives Kleefisch as disloyal? Either way this is Lean/Likely R, Evers has nothing to run on.

I think this likely goes back to 2016 primary stuff. Walker, before Trump became the nominee, criticized Trump frequently and backed Cruz, and then Cruz went on to win the state by a large margin (the last state he'd win, also). So perhaps her affiliation with Walker kind of irkes Trump.

I'm not sure. I remember he did a rally for Walker in 2018 and I'm not sure he's still fixated on whatever grudges he may have developed from before 2016.

Duffy not running:

So Kleefisch is the likely nominee?

Stupid question but did Barnes completely step down as Lt Gov or does he get a second term since Evers won?

No, Evers will have a new LG.

Also Hagedorn only lost Milwaukee County by 25. For comparison, Evers won it by 43 and Barnes won it by 40.

Probably within a couple hours, Wisconsin is generally pretty good about counting.

It's Chicago that we might not know for a while.

Even Mastriano put out a much nicer concession statement.

Say what you want about the WI GOP, but there is no good argument against this:

An impeachment effort here was always doomed because it was so blatantly partisan.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin’s GOP-controlled Legislature on Tuesday passed legislative maps that were proposed by Democratic Gov. Tony Evers — a move designed to prevent the liberal-controlled state Supreme Court from implementing maps that might be even worse for Republicans.

Republicans conceded defeat, while Democrats said they were afraid of being tricked.

“It pains me to say it, but Gov. Evers gets a huge win today,” Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Vos said, adding that under the new maps, “the Legislature will be up for grabs.”

It will never not be hilarious that we're getting fair maps in Wisconsin because a boy asked a girl to prom.

TBF it’s far from guaranteed that Kleefisch would have won.
