Kids in the Milwaukee public schools finally got a choice of masking for the first time in two years... For a day, before they decided to reverse it back today because of rising cases.

Great job guys.

I saw an interview segment on the news this evening in which the new Mayor of Milwaukee justified this decision, claiming that we may be done with the virus, but the virus "isn't done with us", a statement which I've heard many others make. It certainly is a frustrating move, and I doubt this will help the Democrats in Wisconsin, just like the renewal of the Philadelphia mask mandate will probably hurt them in Pennsylvania.

As a Democrat, stuff like this makes me very upset. While I don’t think masking children is the evil some Republicans make it out to be, it should be lifted at this point, and the overcaution for really no good reason is a bad look. It makes them look incompetent and people question if we can ever return to normal. Dems should stop focusing on wedge issues like masks which ultimately play in to Republicans hands, that is over, and both the science and American people are not on our side on it right now.

Not true in either sense.

Are you advocating for a return to mask mandates?

Well a poll showed Americans favor mask mandates 56-24 so you know... all these planes where majorities of people are celebrating the end of the mandate only represent 24% of people somehow.

Construction executive and failed 2004 Senate candidate Tim Michels running for Governor

Kind of a late entry into the race, and as the article suggests, Kleefisch maybe having trouble consolidating support among the base.  He can self-fund and will self-impose caps on contributions.  This could distinguish himself from the other OutsiderTM candidate Nicholson, who is basically Dick Uihlein’s puppet.  He’s also looking to reach out to labor interests as he touts his relationship with his unionized workers, which would (in theory) seem to contrast with the anti-union flavor of the Walker-Kleefisch admin.

R Senator in Biden +8 that is now Biden +1 in suburban Milwaukee is retiring after all. Gives D's a limited chance at winning this seat.

There is no Biden + 1 senate seat in Milwaukee; the only real competative seat is a Biden + 17 which should lean Dem

Morning Consult has Evers at -3 approval

But new MULaw poll has him at +6

Nope remember the SCOTUS case. The GOP maps were picked. Moved from Biden +17 to Biden +1.

Is the GOP trying to lose?

They have absolute trash candidates in MI, PA, AZ and are looking to add Wisconsin. That clip is gold for Evers.

Jesus, this is almost the level of that guy who lost in Michigan this past week. She may be one of the GOPs absolute worst recruits across the country

This question is an interesting moral debate for those that view unborn babies as being equal to all other humans, but saying lemonade and rape in the same sentence could very much be gaffe material. It’s unfortunate that this could be counterproductive to the pro-life movement because talking about “no exceptions” sounds extreme to the average voter and these cases account for a small proportion to begin with

It won't matter electorally. This race is much more high-profile than the special election Robert Regan lost. You can't elect a Democratic dog-catcher this year, thanks to Sleepy Joe Biden not fighting.

Do you get an endorphin rush or something similar from dooming?  I'm genuinely curious.

Kleefisch, Mastriano, Kari Lake and whatever comes from Michigan aren't exactly Glenn Youngkin's in the making.

Maybe they’re trying to lose to further transform their base into full on armed fascists that disavow elections completely. And if they win, they have absolute nutters in office.

If they lose these races, more ammo for the stop the stealers, which means more momentum to eliminate elections overall. Extra constitutional measures, as argued by Vance

It's also not surprising since Youngkin didn't even have a primary. Wouldn't be surprised if he didn't end up winning if that were the case.

Forgot about that, very likely someone like Amanda Chase would have won the primary and then gotten destroyed. Dems would have kept the HoD as well.

NJ GOP also basically rigged it for Jack, the county lines help that!

WI's abortion law will probably go out the door if Dems win the Supreme Court race next spring, and GOP will lose much more. A Dem leaning court would almost certainly redraw all the lines for 2024 state assembly, senate and likely a 4-4 congressional map.

This is possibly true and it begs the question of Virginia style conventions with RCV should be implemented in more places. This would perhaps produce someone who represents the median  GOP primary voter as opposed to the person who represents the highest plurality of voters (but is potentially toxic to other voters). These winners would likely be formidable like Youngkin, since they have proven to be tolerable to all wings and have already practiced campaigning to a wide variety of voters. It also stops people from winning a primary with like 27% of the vote just from running up the score with a certain bloc

No. People should be allowed to pick who they want instead of in party conventions.
