Yes, I'm from Chicago. Irish, Polish, and German Catholic.

God, even the Germans in Chicago are frickin' Bavarians! Tongue

Haha, I was just kidding.  Bavaria is awesome, and its people are lovely; I really I enjoyed my time there.  However, my surname is historically Prussian (and therefore Northern and Protestant/Lutheran), so I will always throw some light-hearted mud regarding this matter. Tongue

Haha, well I'm Protestant myself (being Anglican), but I'm generally closer to Catholics in terms of culture and values (surely being a mix of Anglicanism being the most "catholic" of protestant churches and me having almost always lived in Catholic countries).

One of my favorite parishes in the city is St. Alphonsus in Lakeview. The area was once home to a large number of Volga Germans and while it has completely gentrified, they continue to hold mass in German and they have the best Oktoberfest in the city every year.

In addition to it being absolutely beautiful, though we have no shortage of beautiful churches in this city.
