Can't see how that could possibly go wrong, AT ALL.

https://amp.lefigaro.fr/actualite-france/coronavirus-une-plainte-contre-edouard-philippe-et-agnes-buzyn-a-ete-deposee-20200321

A criminal complaint has been filed by a group of doctors and other healthcare professionals against Prime Minister Edouard Philippe and former Minister of Health and current LREM nominee for Paris City Hall Agnès Buzyn for "mensonge d'État", "lies by the state" in English, due to their handling of the coronavirus pandemic (basically by hiding how serious it was and not doing anything about it until it was already basically too late).

Expect similar in several other countries before long.

Of course, Panzergirl was also around 30% two years out from the last election, and Juppé was the favourite. So, you know, counting chickens and unhatched eggs and all that sort of stuff.

Would you say Melenchon is still the main left wing hope now?

One thing is for sure : Macron isn't swinging left

And what a shock that is.

Maybe the most relevant thing is that he used to be a supporter of Sarkozy?

You would have thought Macron would at least consider "the optics" (ugh) in such things.

Bit of a yikes article from "Valeurs" Actuelles causing a big scandal today. Although in reality, its probably not that surprising given the radicalisation of much of the French mainstream media in recent years.
What was it?

Picturing Danielle Obono, a black FI, députée as a slave so as to "show role of Africans in the transatlantic slave trade"

Does France have laws about this (I imagine things like libel laws might apply, as might any anti-racism laws France might have)? Forcibly shutting down the magazine or forcing the sacking of person involved would probably be the right outcome here.

High time some irresponsible "journalists" were held to account tbh - and not just in France.

Making a fuss about someone who is veiled on TV hosting a cooking show (and remember by veiled we mean face visible, might be confusing for non francophones) is really crass.

I do understand the argument of public servants having to take off any religious or cultural symbol though. It's a much more complex debate that is also happening here in Belgium.

Not just for them, lots of people elsewhere hear "veils" and think of the burqa.

So much of modern political invective is simple projection.

Also, to be fair, often the most complex.

The guy who slaped Macron is a monarchist. I didn't know this kind of people exists today in France.

They have always existed, they have never been that numerous.

Clearly TERFs have less influence in France (their media in particular)

Meanwhile, the BBC have just authorised a multi-episode hit job on Stonewall - just after inviting the undiluted hate group "The LGB Alliance" onto its airspace pretty much without challenge.

Honestly let's force everyone to be vaccinated and that would solve the lockdown problem

Let's indeed remember where the phrase "forced to be free" originated Smiley

Truss and Macron currently trading barbs, things are looking promising for when she becomes PM.
