So we're at 15 candidates now if we count Williamson.

At least Buttigieg actually governs his city, while Messam is largely ceremonial mayor.

Mkay ...

He urgently needs to remove that large, unsharp picture of him on the left where he looks a bit goofy (the picture of him in the background should remain, but I would move that to the left instead).

It starts getting ridiculous. Seems like every Fifth rate mayor or backbenchers in congress think they can win the nomination, beat Trump and effectively govern.

Do we really need two black Floridian mayors without statewide experience in the Presidential race?

We're gonna have at least 30 Democratic candidates. The only question is how many drop out before or just after Iowa.

Only 20 can make it the debates, and Messam seems like someone who probably won't make it even without the limit of 20.

Seems like an apt comparison.

"Florida Mayor" is apparently the new "Florida Man".

Hahaha, I love it! And how pathetic is it that the best candidates we can get out of Florida are obscure Mayors?

But seriously, what a strange primary we have going on. It's good to see that the field is still getting more diverse and he has more of a reason to run than Gillum. But for Mayors of obscure towns to be running is something entirely new. Buttigieg at least had a somewhat national profile since he's a young, gay veteran in a red state; but what makes Messam so special? I knew that Buttigieg running would open the floodgates to other Mayors entering the race; but I thought those mayors would be de Blasio, Garcetti, or Landrieu caliber. Maybe Messam is just trying to raise his national profile for a future run for Senate or Governor (which he will lose).

At this point though, all bets are off. Literally any Democrat in the country can make a case for running now: like why not a count executive? Or a has-been? Seriously though, I now want Russ Feingold to throw his hat in the ring. Why shouldn't he? I've always wanted him to run for President and there isn't really any reason why he can't now.

Ah yes, because the man who not only blew a double digit lead, but underperformed HRC in the actual election, should run for President

If Gillum ends up announcing it won't sound as ridiculous. Of course Feingold isn't going to run though. I'm just saying that the reasons, like the one you outlined, why he, or others like him, might not want to don't really seem to be stopping other candidates.
