Parliamentary America, i've tried before but it's much too complicated for myself, but if someone wants to take on the task I can help.

No “soccer mom” campaign in 1996 and Democrats invest in and regain control of the House and Senate that year.

An alternate universe in which:

2000: Bush defeats Gore
2004: Bush defeats Kerry
2008: Clinton defeats McCain (Obama loses Iowa Caucus, is reelected to the Senate in 2010 and 2016)
2012: Clinton defeats Romney
2016: Trump defeats Clinton's VP Evan Bayh

And then start the timeline with:

2020: Trump vs. Obama

If that's not a new progressive era for America, then I don't know what is. A left-wing NUT timeline for sure, but if we're going to be an echo chamber here, we might as well commit to it.

2009-2016 if Hillary was Obama’s VP and Biden was Obama’s Secretary of State.

When I was doing a poll on Which Of These Presidential Losers Do You Think Would've Made The BEST President? lots of People have answered Hubert Humphrey. Because of this, I'm curious on how a 1968 Humphrey presidency would have went.

An alternate timeline in which Beau Biden never got brain cancer, therefore was still alive and nothing was stopping Joe Biden from running from president.

There is no way that Donald Trump runs as a Republican in 2016 if Hillary Clinton was elected in 2008.

For me, I would say that a timeline where Richard Nixon wins in 1960, but is assassinated in 1963 would be interesting. In that timeline, Henry Cabot Lodge Jr would easily win in 1964, but struggle with the Vietnam War, which would result in a John F. Kennedy comeback in 1968. I also assume that Republicans would pass the civil rights laws and that both parties would have somewhat different coalitions today.

It's a timeline. Take some creative liberties. Smiley

A timeline in which instead of the Cold War being between the US and the Soviet Union, it is actually between the US and Nazi Germany would be interesting as well. The main points of divergence in this scenario would involve Nazi Germany defeating Britain in 1940 and the Soviet Union in 1941 and not declaring war on the US after Pearl Harbor. I assume that Nazi Germany would have ultimately collapsed by 1985 in such a scenario.

I like to see a timeline where Nixon faces Muskie N in 72 or j.f.k. faces Rimney 64.

I have 2-3 ideas :

1. Ike resigns in 1955, leading to Nixon becoming President and winning 1956 and 1960 and being succeeded by a two term barry goldwater, who's succeeded by a single term Henry Lodge.

2. JFK Jr. runs and defeats Al'Amato in 1992 and becomes the most liberal senator in the Senate. 2004, which has an economy in deep recession and Iraq getting worse by the day, sees JFK Jr easily defeats Bush.

3. Colin Powell challenges Clinton in 1996 and wins, there is no 22nd Amendment.

Bush's DUI thing hits him a few weeks before the Ames Straw Poll in 1999 and thus, Liddy Dole wins it, becoming the front-runner to the Presidential Nomination, becoming the Republican Nominee and defeating Al Gore, serving as America's first Woman President from 2001-2009. I'm actually down to be writing this in much the same style as Iowa is Rubio Country, so if anyone is interested in assissting me, please message me here or on Discord. It'll be a shared TL that will be for when I have writer's block and this time, I hope to see it to 2008 and maybe later.

  • Robert Taft presidency (1953 - 1961)
  • Richard Nixon presidency (1961 - 1963) followed by a Henry Cabot Lodge Jr. presidency (1963 - 1969)
  • Second term for W. H. Taft
  • Mitt Romney presidency (2013 - 2021)
  • Franklin Roosevelt doesn't run for a third term
  • The 22nd amendment is never ratified and Eisenhower wins a third term
