How would Lautenberg do against HW (and possibly Perot)?

It seems clear to me that he would have not done much outside the Northeast and Pacific Coast – and even there his position on gun control might have given Maine to Perot. He might have done well in highly hawkish Virginia and North Carolina, but he would have been likely to lose the rest of the South:

Frank Lautenberg (Democratic): 41 percent, 292 electoral votes
George Bush senior (Republican): 38 percent, 243 electoral votes
H. Ross Perot (Independent): 20 percent, 3 electoral votes
