Orval Fabus' 1960 run

Orval Faubus was nominated for president by a minor far-right National States Rights Party, and indeed appeared on the ballot in some states, winning a grand total 0.07% of the vote (6.76 in Arkansas), but I can't find any info on whether Faubus ever acknowledged the nomination, as the mere association with such circles doesn't seem as something he'd do (though a segregationist, Faubus wasn't known for white supremacist leanings and until Little Rock was considered moderate-to-liberal on the issue, being a Sid McMath's protege).

Can anybody shed some light on this?

Faubus did not acknowledge the nomination. 

Faubus was NOT a Dixiecrat.  He was a Democratic loyalist who supported JFK in 1960 and LBJ in 1964.  He was someone George Wallace considered as his 1968 running mate, but he didn't choose Faubus out of concern that he would be perceived as a purely regional candidate if he did so.  (Faubus did not seek a spot on Wallace's ticket and did not endorse him.)  He was no longer electable in Arkansas, however, due to scandals that were unearthed when he was out of office, particularly scandals in regard to Arkansas' prison system.
