I never had a doubt about him winning Virginia, but I never dreamed he would win NC.

That, combined with Indiana were the big surprises from that night.

I felt like Obama would win Virginia but until election night I was skeptical he would win North Carolina.

I thought McCain would carry North Carolina and Indiana, while Obama would carry Missouri.

This year I feel Biden is likely to carry Arizona, but I'm still skeptical that he carries Georgia. It's not outside the realm of possibility, though.

Mark Warner was running against Ed Gillespie and Dole lied about Hagan being an atheist and it wasn't her voice that said there is no God. Hagan was a Church Sunday school teacher

I like you as a poster but please put stuff not related to 2020 in the appropriate board.

Virginia: Lehman Brothers crash.

North Carolina: Early voting reporting a very strong black turnout.

I was too young to follow elections as closely but Im getting similar feeling about Arizona and Georgia

Your hunch turned out be right, and I can kind of see parallels of AZ to NC, and GA to VA, mainly because ATL and its suburbs have swung heavy Democrat, but Maricopa County, AZ moved only by a couple of points, whereas the whole ATL area swung to Biden by double digits.

Georgia will cease to be competitive a lot faster than Arizona. Still, I think the GOP has a lot farther to fall in both of those states with college educated voters

When they were called for him...I was too young to follow too closely and I knew they were strong Bush states.

Still surprised he lost Missouri before either of them.

Virginia -- when Obama caught up with McCain as the urban votes started coming in.
