Abrams won't get picked if she's running for Senate in 2020.

I like Sanders/Baldwin

It's interesting that people are suggesting that he play "identity politics" by selecting a woman or person of color. His wife is probably the only running mate that would work for him.

Baldwin, Duckworth, Michael Bennett (Makes 2020 Safe Dem), Whitmer, Abrams

Yes to Duckworth!  Easily the best choice.

Kamala Harris. But that would make him a sellout to the neoliberal, coastal elitist, identity politics establishment!

As I said in another thread, Baldwin would be a great choice. Duckworth would be pretty good as well.

These are my top 2 as well. Baldwin would better fit with his progressive philosophies but Duckworth would give some toughness with foreign policy.

Sanders said on TYT that he is looking @ a VP of the opposite gender, who will be younger & will be very progressive.

Who does that point to? Baldwin ? Warren, if you discount age. I am not sure if he will choose Harris to hand over his legacy to !

I'd say that leans toward Baldwin. She's younger, progressive but acceptable to the establishment crowd, galvanises the LGBT vote and helps out in a critical state.

Duckworth could give credibility on foreign policy and defence issues, which is something he desperately needs.

Klobuchar is a non-starter.

That leaves Harris. The problem there is that her past as California AG may give some people pause, and that beyond being a black woman, adds little else to the ticket.

Currently, I'd say he'd lean toward Baldwin, with Duckworth close behind.

I suppose it's possible he could mean Tulsi...

Duckworth would probably be one of the better VP choices tbh

Duckworth would be his safest bet IMHO. Baldwin would be more ideologically preferable, but electability is key and I think Sanders/Duckworth would be more electable. Whoever wins the nomination is going to have to reach an olive branch out to the other faction of the party.

Kamala Harris is the obvious choice for any white Male candidate as of right now. That could change depending on how the primaries go. If it's a nailbiter, maybe the 2nd place contender.

Ro Khanna, Pete Buttigieg, Beto O'Rourke, Stacey Abrams, Tammy Baldwin in roughly that order.

I guess Baldwin? Honestly, maybe even Warren.

I think if you're a Sanders supporter, you'd prefer someone who's ideologically similar over 'balancing the ticket' because, uh, the guy's going to be 79 and there's a more realistic chance he doesn't make it through the next eight years than there is for any of the other candidates. Personally, I don't feel the VP choice makes a difference to the election unless they're terrible, but even if you do think that, having someone who's in the same mold as him ideologically is more important than the short-term political gain.

Given the narrative about Sanders having a problem with minorities I'd expect there to be pressure for a non-White VP.
