One question: why do some people assume that Biden is good for bringing WWC voters back?

Because he's an old centrist white dude, I guess.

Because he's from the Wyoming Valley, basically, but it's unlikely to translate in 2020 given how tone deaf he's been acting.

WWC? Maybe in PA and few pockets in SW Wisconsin. A Biden candidacy will mostly play to suburbanites who just want experience so we can go back to normal.

Was there a what-if thread asking what would have happened had Biden decided to run against Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders during the 2016 Democratic primaries?

There were probably a dozen of those.

I want to know what is Biden going to say during a debate that's going make him collapse. Not every Democratic voter is Cynthia Nixon.

Yeah, but every Democrat on Atlas seems to be.

How certain or uncertain is it at this point he really jumps in? He seems to delay an announcement over and over again. Running is a bit of a risk for Biden, because he's now an elder statesman. If he runs and loses, he's more of a failed candidate. But I know he really wants to be prez.

I have really mixed feelings on how well he might do. 50% of me thinks he is a paper tiger, and the other 50% believe he would win the primaries and the GE by puttingback  together the Obama coalition. I'm 85% certain if he is the nominee he will pick Kamala Harris as VP and she would be the frontrunner for 2024 similar to how Al Gore got the nomination in 2000.

Kamala Harris says she is in it to win. Neither Harris nor Castro said they are candidates for Veeps, she says she will return to Senate if she isnt nominated.

The polls are misleading at this point due to fact Biden hasnt been under scrutiny. Sanders will attack Biden

I think the MeToo stuff is going to unravel pretty quickly maybe before he even announces. The videos haven't even circulated on mainstream media but they will once he announces or its pushed enough online.

The videos I have seen are a little distrubing, but it's not assault, let alone rape. I don't think he did something that bad behind the scenes.

The biggest issue is that its just indefensible I just can't see how Biden or his team would be able to spin it.

I'm sure no one will care when Biden calls Harris "sassy" or something like that.

Doesn't mean anything. A brief history of primary polling:

'88 Biden was actually doing pretty well. Dukakis turned out to be a good ratf*(ker at that point. Not a good example.

Did he make any serious gaffes during his time as Vice President?

Should Biden get in, Sanders will lose his WWC appeal; however, KAMALA, who is a woman in the race, have that going for her. Sanders have 0 pledged delegate support

Compared to the rest of his political career Biden was kept on a very tight ship language-wise as VP. But I don't think he's going to have the same structure (Obama staff, etc) keeping him disciplined and on message.

He was fine as VP aside from the dumb "they're gonna put y'all in chains" thing from 2012. But when he ran in 2008 he was god awful: the vaguely anti-Indian jokes, discussing how "clean" Obama was, the "Stand up Chuck" incident.

Those kinds of 2007/08 gaffes would be so intensified in the modern media landscape too.

To be fair, he recently made a gave when he said to have no empathy for millenials. Even though it was taken out of context, such comments can hurt hurt him.

I think his reluctance has hardened partisans on Berni side and Harris; however, if Biden does get the nominatipn, Harris voters will flock to Biden. Although, Super Tuesday, comes around, Cali and Harris have the advantage
