Due to a combination of population loss (Due to prolonged drought conditions, sporadic outbreaks of brush fires, increased earthquake activities, high tax rates and high crime rates, California endured a larger than expected exodus. While such states as Arizona, Colorado,  Georgia, Idaho, Maryland,  Montana, North Dakota, North Carolina, South Dakota and Virginia saw population growth.

The 2048 Presidential election, marked the end of 12 years of G.O.P. control of the White House.

Not at all. I could see potential GOP landslides in unlikely circumstances but given ongoing party shifts it'd look different.

This is very likely to happen if the Democrats move towards authoritarian socialism and if the Republicans purge "Trumpism" for a more moderate platform.
Both of which are very unlikely.
