No one who brags about George Shultz supporting them is going to endorse Bernie.

I'm just saying that the mayor, whom everyone knows about, is going to have more power over her electorate than the area Democratic leader. Sorry if that bursts your bubble?

Except the default assumption is that everyone in the area will be backing Harris. So someone backing someone else is reasonably big deal for that candidate.

In 2008 the entire West Virginia congressional delegation supported Obama.
And yet Clinton won the primary by 40 points.

Still, count as delegates even if it's not until the 2nd ballot.

Not quite accurate.

A poll of the membership recommended that the leadership of the party (the National Political Committee, NPC) endorse Bernie. However only about 13,000 people voted and there are 40,000 dues paying DSA members. It's not clear whether the low turn out was because of lazy millennials or because of a boycott by more radical DSA members who don't think the NPC should to choose (and who generally don't favor Bernie).

The NPC will decide on March 21st whether or not to endorse Sanders.

They probably will. The NPC is much more moderate than the org at large. The org at large is made up of people who consider themselves Communists, many oppose Bernie for not being "a real socialist" and for his past comments about open borders being bad. The NPC, on the other hand, is tenuously controlled by the social democratic "Momentum" faction, which is closely linked with Jacobin magazine and likes Bernie.

Their control is tenuous though. Not all members of Momentum are as moderate as Momentum's leadership. If enough Momentum NPC members defect to the minority "Praxis" faction, they could block an endorsement and then the DSA won't endorse until their annual convention.

If Bernie could win at the DSA national convention is not entirely clear.

I say there's a 75/25 chance the NPC endorses him on March 21st and if they don't, a 50/50 chance he wins the endorsement at the DSA national convention.

https://www.politico.com/story/2019/03/19/tulsi-gabbard-2020-campaign-1225758

Quote
Former Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie, who is backing Beto O’Rourke in the Democratic presidential contest, said Gabbard so far has just been trying to establish herself and her views on the national stage.

“I think she’s establishing, at this stage, a track record that people are going to pay attention to,” Abercrombie said.

Beto is now the presumptive nominee.

I'm gonna have dinner soon, so shoot me a PM if you're really curious and I'll elaborate when I have a chance, but Lee is pretty widely regarded as one of the worst members of the House Democratic Caucus (for completely non-ideological reasons).

Sheila Jackson Lee is notorious for stealing better seats on an airplane than the ones she paid for.

New Hampshire lawmaker endorses Booker

“I’ve gotten to know Cory over an extended period of time, he’s been truly committed to the Granite state in a way that others haven’t been,” Morgan said. “He is going to events where he has hundreds of people and staying until every last person gets their questions answered and has a selfie with them. That is something that I think New Hampshire voters value and I think that is campaigning the New Hampshire way.”

Good lord, the delusion runs strong.

Do I dare to speculate that you've not been following Ted Lieu closely the last year or so? Tongue I can't imagine who else he would be supporting other than Yang.

So I follow Debbie Wasserman Schultz on Instagram since she's my representative & I've noticed that, in regards to posts from presidential candidates, she (or, at least, her Instagram account anyway) appears to only like Gillibrand's posts, so take that as you may (personally, I take it as a sign that it's highly likely she personally supports Gillibrand but, for whatever reason, isn't saying so publicly).

What on earth leads you to that conclusion?

The fact that he's one of the smartest, if not the smartest, of the 535 representatives currently in Congress?

Even if that was true, the only case it would build is for why he wouldn't endorse Yang in a million years.

Actually, I just looked it up and Lieu already endorsed Harris. So much for that 95% confidence prediction...

Lots of people endorsed Clinton early in the 2008 primary, then switched their endorsements to Obama once he started surging and winning caucuses and primaries. This proves nothing. It only proves that Harris is high in the polls, and was among the candidates getting the most hype and media attention during the first three months of 2019. He might feel obliged to endorse Harris since she's the Senator from his state. Just look at the other endorsements so far. Almost all of them come from the candidates' home states.
