Election day map:

Donald Trump/Alex Jones: 270 EV
Hillary Clinton/Tim Kaine: 268 EV

A complete disaster for Dems struck as even with a crazed conspiracy theorist as his VP, Trump won. The closest state was Florida, but the closest EV was in Nebraska's 2nd, where Trump won by under 0.1%. Either way the election was his, as long as nothing screwed up in the electoral college...

Clinton/Kaine: 266 EV
Trump/Jones: 263 EV
McMullin/Finn: 7 EV
Other: 2 EV

Shocking to some, a total of 9 electors voted for other candidates, including 7 for McMullin, throwing the election to the house (and in turn making McMullin the 3rd contender in that)

House Contingent election, 1st Ballot:

Trump: 21 delegations
Clinton: 17 delegations
McMullin: 4 delegations
No decision: 8 delegations

The balloting continued, as the Senate couldn't decide on a result either as some dissident Republicans from their 51-seat majority (McGinty wins in this TL) abstain from the vote, preventing any majority vote.

Eventually, congressional dems and dissident Rs agreed to a compromise where McMullin would get D votes in the house and Kaine would get senate votes. It took a few more ballots for progressives to begrudgingly accept.

18th ballot:

McMullin: 27 delegations
Trump: 21 delegations
Clinton: 1 delegation
No decision: 1 delegation

Torrance Hasselback Coughman (THC) was an author and host of the Our America podcast from Indiana formed a 3rd party bid for president running on a platform of Universal Healthcare, Right to an Adequate Living Wage, Green New Deal, Right to Adequate Food and Housing, Ending the Wars, Eisenhower Era Tax Rates for the Wealthy, Negative Income Tax for those making under $49k, Tax cuts for those making under $400k, Protecting Gun Rights, Illegalizing lobbying, Right to an Advanced Education and Ending the Drug War. His opponents were Democratic Nominee New York Governor Chelsea Clinton and Republican Nominee Vice President Majorie Taylor Greene. After the Great Economic Crash of 2034 and Climate Change hitting harder than expected voters were sick of the Republican party after 4 years of Trump followed up by 8 years of Ron DeSantis the American people wanted radical change. Vice President Greene ran without any serious challenger while Governor Clinton ran faced a challenge from Arizona Senator Ruben Gallego but dropped out after Super Tuesday when he only carried Vermont and Colorado. Coughman seeing the inevitable that Clinton would be the nominee for the Democratic party announced an exploratory bid for the presidency on October 3rd, 2035 on the Our America podcast urging his fans to organize a movement to get him on the ballot in all 50 states. Following the announcement, he got the endorsement of former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura and other notable leftwing commentators while some were hesitant to endorse him due to his position on guns. On April 9th, 2036 on his 35th birthday he announced on his podcast that he has reached ballot access in all 50 states and officially announces his campaign for president with his co-host Johannes Baldemar as his running mate. He was able to crack the 15% necessary to get into the first debate and he seized the opportunity to have a strong debate performance being able to communicate ideas like Medicare for All and a Green New Deal in a more moderate-sounding way to the public which saw support for them spike along with his numbers in the polls surging up to 32% after the first debate. The Clinton campaign tanked after the first debate with large parts of her voting bloc switching over to Coughman which set off a panic within the democratic establishment fearing it could hand the election over to Greene even with her historically low favorability ratings. On election night America witnessed the biggest political upset in modern political history when Torrance Hasselback Coughman pulled off the upset winning the election with a narrow majority in the electoral college and 38% of the popular vote.

Torrance Hasselback Coughman(OA-IN)/Johannes Baldemar (OA-CO): 38%
Vice President Greene (R-GA)/Sen.Matt Gaetz (R-FL): 35%
Governor Chelsea Clinton (D-NY)/ Rep. Shontel Brown (D-OH): 28%

Biden was first elected to the Senate in 1972. Here's 1972 senatorial results replacing 2020 presidential results in all states with the former. Biden's popular vote win is cut to D+1.61.

During his second campaign for the US Presidency, former State Representative for Michigan and "American Socialist" activist Gregory Moore won 1,181,569 votes, or 3.01% of the ballots cast. In Minnesota and North Dakota, he was the nominee of the Farmer-Labor and Nonpartisan League parties, respectively.

On Thanksgiving 1931, Moore – who had heavily campaigned for American Socialist local candidates in major cities that fall – announced his candidacy for President, hitting an optimistic tone of change and American renewal. The progressive activist promised:

- The nationalization of the energy, heavy manufacturing, mining and transportation industries;
- The creation of farm subsidies, and a $5 billion land reclamation project to end the Dust Bowl;
- Corporate, wealth and capital gains taxes;
- A minimum wage, paid maternity leave, unemployment benefits, public pensions for the elderly and paid sick leave;
- Ending prohibition while leaving alcohol up to the states (a change in views);
- An end to military interventions in Latin America, and cuts to foreign aid;
- A housing bill, and Department of Housing and Urban Development;
- Creating a Department of Education to provide free school textbooks, high pay for teachers and tuition-free trade schools;
- A civil rights bill to end segregation, and enforcement of voting rights;
- Collective bargaining for all public and private sector employees;
- Public works projects such as dams and highways.

Moore refrained from directly campaigning (other than advertising) until July 1932, when began a 48-state tour to promote his candidacy, directly meeting with local people and discussing their issues. He spoke to segregated audiences in the South, often being heckled and called a "n----- lover". His campaign employed sound trucks and radio ads, but was pretty underfunded. On August 2 of that year, Moore confirmed Francis Townsend as his running mate (after Governor of Louisiana Huey Long refused his request); Townsend campaigned for the Michigander in the west coast. Moore was in the ballot in every state but Vermont, Maine and Rhode Island; in Minnesota and North Dakota, the Farmer-Labor and Nonpartisan League parties gave him a ballot line.

His attacks focused on large corporations instead of any candidate, but Moore denounced the failures of the Hoover Administration while saying FDR's proposals were too moderate.

When the former State Representative hit 5% of the vote in a poll, major newspapers reported on his "flip-flopping" over Prohibition and wealth taxes, which he had supported and opposed, respectively in the 1920s. Moore failed to properly address these attacks, causing him to lose many votes to Roosevelt; Democratic strategists began to accuse Moore of causing a split in the left-wing vote, allowing Hoover to win reelection.

On October 30 1932, Moore held a large rally in the Madison Square Garden, where he gave a "heavenly" speech to 20,000 people. In the speech, he attacked Hoover and Roosevelt as "Wall Street lackeys" while calling himself "the only candidate who stands for the American worker", and mentioning his story of struggles for the American worker.

In the end, Moore won three percent of the vote, and enough in his home state to allow for a Hoover victory in Michigan.

Fictional 2064 US Presidential Election

Faithless elector laws were ruled unconstitutional under the 1st Amendment in the 2050s allowing the Green Party candidate to be elevated over the initial frontrunner, Hargreaves. The Democrats and Forward encouraged their electors to vote for Roy ahead of the electoral college vote, giving Roy a majority on that day.

Low effort Texas 1995 Referendum. The more interesting idea in hindsight would have been to imagine Texas with a Spanish speaking majority and go from there, so I might do that at some point.

My OC, James Davis (1870-1962)

State Representative: 1893-1895
State Senator: 1895-1899
U.S. Representative: March 4, 1899-June 3, 1904
=Party Whip: 1901-1904
Commissioner of Social Services: June 4, 1904-May 1, 1905
Secretary of Health & Education: May 1, 1905-March 4, 1909
U.S. Representative: March 4, 1911-March 4, 1913
=Deputy Speaker: 1911-1913
Secretary of Health & Education: March 4, 1913-August 14, 1918
U.S. Senator: March 4, 1919-March 4, 1931
=Party Whip: 1923-1925
=Party Leader: 1925-1931
==Chair/RM of the HELP Committee: 1921-1931
==Chair/RM of the Foreign Affairs Committee: 1925-1927
==Chair/RM of the Judiciary Committee: 1927-1931
Governor of New Jersey: January 19, 1932-January 18, 1938
Secretary of Health & Education: February 17, 1938-January 24, 1939
Secretary of Commerce: January 24, 1939-January 20, 1941
Vice President: January 20, 1941-December 5, 1941
President: December 5, 1941-August 2, 1945

A favorite of Theodore Roosevelt, James Davis was instrumental in establishing Social Security in 1905, pushed for and got his position made a cabinet office. Also passionate about conservation, Davis had the National Parks Service under his purview, and it was increased in scope by roughly 4,000% over his term. After another stint in the House, he was re-appointed to the HE Department by President Wilson, again presiding over an expanded welfare state. Disagreements with the President over eugenics and aid for returning soldiers led to his voluntary resignation in August to run for Senate. Following his 52%-44% election, he became one of the most effective leaders in the body, holding the HELP Committee chairmanship or ranking membership for most of his term. He was re-elected by a wider margin of 60%-35%.  He spent his next term pushing infrastructure projects and conservation, the latter of which was more successful, eventually culminating in the Clean Water Act as signed by President Hoover, who was eager to prove himself as more of a third-way figure in comparison to Coolidge.

After retiring, Davis ran for Governor. He easily won by 25 points in a Democratic wave year and swept into office. He signed several new laws in his first term in Drumthwacket, including a $0.20 minimum wage, environmental protection laws, and the establishment of a state lottery to fund what would become the nation's best public education system by the end of the decade. Following his re-election in 1934 by a landslide 35% margin, the Governor embarked on the rest of his 'New Horizon' Agenda. But he was only able to get a $0.30 minimum wage and an increase in teacher pay before he had to help pass Medicare (like the OTL one but 30 years earlier) and implement it. He was term-limited in 1937 and following the conclusion of his term in January of 1938 he was appointed to his old job at the Department of Health and Education. Following a cabinet shuffle and a few years Davis was elected Vice President in 1940.

James Ignatius Davis III was sworn in as Vice President on January 20, 1941. But he only held the office for less than a year before FDR died of a brain aneurysm. Less than a week later, Pearl Harbor was attacked. His 'The Shining City We Will Defend' speech before congress on what was less than 100 hours into his Presidency has gone down in history. Following the speech, Congress unanimously approved a declaration of war against Japan a declaration against Germany a few days later. President Davis formally signed both documents along with ambassadorial recalls on December 13. Following the formation of a ten-member war council- which even included Benjamin Davis, the first Black general-, the President began doing near-daily meetings and even had a map of American forces in his study.

He then passed the Executive Control Act of 1942, which allows for the government to nationalize something during wartime. Further controls, including expanding Medicare to veterans and the OTL GI Bill, also passed. He was re-elected in 1944 easily.

He almost finished the war, although he suffered a somewhat major stroke only a few weeks after his 75th birthday in July and resigned in August.

He spent his retirement in his country estate in New Jersey, occasionally venturing out to gives talks or lectures after fully recovering in 1947. He has gone down in history as a POTUS in the mid-level of the first quartile but has routinely been ranked as the most qualified person to be elected President.

Seems highly correlated with OTL 2020 election results, minus the RGV drift of course.

That was mostly the baseline, strong no from most urban/suburban areas which ran just a bit north of Biden's vote in those places, coupled with a strong showing for no in areas with a large number of Spanish speakers.
