Jim Hood v Phil Scott makes this hypothetical a hard decision for me (for who to vote for). Who are the running mates?

I've actually made a definitive decision as to who would be Scott's running mate. I've settled upon Neel Kashkari, who ran for Governor of California in OTL 2014 and lost to Jerry Brown, who was reelected to his last term. Obviously, this is an alternate timeline, and it can help explain California's overwhelmingly strong support for Scott.

If Kerry had put in the effort in VA and picked Warner as his running mate....

✓ Senator John Kerry (D-MA)/Governor Mark Warner (D-VA): 270 EV. (49.20%)
President George W. Bush (R-TX)/Vice President Joe Biden (R-WY): 268 EV. (50.23%)

November 5th: We can now project that in a massive upset, Senator John Kerry has won the state of Virginia with 13 electoral votes. That along with New Mexico which we have projected for Senator Kerry yesterday puts Senator Kerry at exactly 270 electoral votes, making him the 44th president of the United States. President Bush despite winning the national popular vote by 1.03%, loses with 268 electoral votes.

This is actually a map of something, so feel free to guess.  But, it also looks close enough to an election map (albeit with a few odd states) that it feels fun to think about what could cause this map to happen in an actual election.

Looks like an actual map of the 2020 election if you remove all the fraudulent votes (except Georgia of course)

Vermont is what messes things up, unless there’s something I’m missing. Maybe it’s states by who the governor voted for, though I’d think WV would be red in that case)
