Shadows, whenever anyone criticizes Bernie you just ignore the point and post a bunch of other positive stuff about Bernie.  It's really annoying.

Yes, other candidates have also reported the number of individual contributions.  Nobody is disputing that.  I explicitly said in my post that Biden said "X donations from Y donors."

But Bernie is the one going around the country crowing about his average donation.  Every single speech, he says "Our campaign received 3 million donations!  And do you know what the average donation was?  Twenty-seven dollars!"  or whatever the numbers are now.

No other candidate does this, because they know that number is meaningless.  Bernie is the only candidate making a big deal out of it.  In fact it is a critical part of his campaign platform, that he is the working-class candidate because he has the lowest donation number, while his opponents are all being bribed by big money interests.

No other candidate ONLY reports the contribution number in their press releases and fundraising.  The Bernie campaign reports only that number, not any of the other ones.  It is intentionally misleading to make him sound more popular than he is.

And no other candidate EXPLICITLY ENCOURAGES their supporters to break up single donations into multiple smaller donations to rig the number.  The Bernie campaign is the only campaign to do this.  It is intentionally misleading to make him look more grassrootsy than he actually is.

Yes, Bernie also has the most donors.  We knew this would happen, because he is the only candidate with an existing fundraising apparatus and mailing list; the other candidates all started from scratch.  But that's a complete non sequiter.

Bernie raised $46.3 million through Q2, from 746,000 donors.

His average donation was therefore 46,300,000 / 746,000 = $62.06

But that doesn't sound as grassrootsy, salt-of-the-earth-y, working-class-y as $11, does it?

I’m probably the only Hillary ‘08, Bernie ‘16 supporter in existence? Lol.  Tears of joy

Among posters here, Adam Griffin is the only other one I know of.

Among actual relevant people, Thom Hartman supported Clinton because he didn’t think America could elect a black man.

I'm also a Clinton '08, Sanders '16 supporter.

The guy is a complete psycho who just wants to slander Sanders with fake news & lies.

Besides by that logic other candidates will be having average donation upwards of 100$.

But the point is average donation not average money/donor.

Repulsive answer to an idiotic question.

Yeah, that's a completely awful answer to a stupid question. The problem isn't overpopulation; the footprint of the average person in the "third world" is negligible at best. The overwhelming majority of the world's pollution comes from just a few major corporations, not the "overpopulation" of the "third world." Bernie's answer certainly isn't aligned with Marxist views on the proper response to our ecological crisis.

However, I do support helping to empower residents of poorer countries to achieve greater control over their reproductive health - but not for reasons of overpopulation.

Repulsive answer to an idiotic question.

Absolutely disgusting and should instantly disqualify him from the race for embracing such fringe lunacy. This answer is no better than neo-nazis supporting abortion because it kills more black kids than white kids. The idea that we're going to genocide children to stop the planet from getting 1 degree warmer is regressive nonsense. What if one of those kids is clever enough to develop new energy solutions or find ways to limit pollution? His answer is akin to saying the solution to a water leak is to get rid of all the water rather than covering the leak.

They should trot him back to the nursing home where he belongs.

The overwhelming majority of the world's pollution comes from just a few major corporations

This stat has been bandied about in far-left circles a lot lately, but it's extremely misleading.

Yes, Saudi Aramco is "responsible" for a lot of the world's pollution if you attribute all the pollution caused by the oil they produce to them.  But in reality, they produce oil, and it's used by millions of people.  The socialists like to blame everything on corporations and absolve the proletariat from responsibility or accountability.  But in reality, if you drive a car, it's your fault for polluting, not Saudi Aramco's for drilling the oil that turned into gasoline for your car.

Bernie is absolutely right. Most of the world's ocean pollution comes from just ten rivers in Africa and Asia, and Africa's population boom is just beginning. We should be trying to make abortions accessible for people in those countries, especially the ones where the birth rate is hitting an average of seven children per woman (Niger, Mali, etc). If you have a problem with people exercising their reproductive rights just because it might be more popular in non-white areas of the world, I guess I just have no idea what your priorities are.

It's actually the fault of oil and car lobbyists routinely killing any chance of decent public transportation as well as cities being planned and zoned around car usage...

Yeah...that was a bad move. I am pro-choice in nearly every circumstance, and believe that funding for safe abortions is a positive for every society, but not because of overpopulation. When it's framed that way it directly feeds into right wing boogeyman narratives. Overpopulation is only an issue because of access and distribution of resources. You would think that Sanders would know that, isn't it his signature issue?

Congrats, Old Atlas.  Bernie Sanders said poor people in underdeveloped countries should have access to contraception and you are among the 15 people on the planet pearl-clutching over it.

Go outside.

The uncomfortable reality is that the voter and Sanders are right. There are too many people on earth, though this isn't a problem of the United States or Europe. But instead of having abortions, I think there should be more birth control.

I mean he's not wrong, he just didn't word it right. We need to get the growth rate down in non-developed countries, for the sake of planet and for the sake of women's rights. If women have fewer kids, they're more likely to be able to work and make informed decisions about their own lives. It would also allow them and their daughters to get more education because the girls won't have to watch their siblings.   In this day in age, there's no reason to have a birthrate on average of 7 kids anywhere.  Just like in developed countries, birth control and sex education should be at the top our priorities but legal abortion should be there in case you need/want it bc having seven plus kids just wrecks your body. Getting the birth rate down would also stop a lot of unrest in these places.

Repulsive answer to an idiotic question.

Should’ve known that someone from TPUSA would frame it that way. I’d encourage everyone to actually watch the embedded video and not just that fool’s summary in the tweet.

Gates Foundation, UNFPA, etc. pour billions of dollars into promoting birth control and abortion, but people in agricultural subsistence economies with high child mortality generally want lots of kids.
