The question now is whether the military will still support Maduro. If they abandon him, he'll be gone soon. If some of them stay loyal to him, then a civil war seems likely.

Carefully worded tweet from Venezuela's Minister of Defense. Says the Military won't accept an "imposed" President, but didn't say who the "imposed" President is. Says the Military will defend Venezuela's Constitution and sovereignty. I wouldn't rule out a military coup now.

If Maduro falls then a lot of leftist parties in Europe will start getting nervous considering he has funneled a lot of money to them through legally questionable channels.

Ditto for basically all center-left parties of Latin America.
