Tuberville in trouble?

Alabama Republicans have decided that a literal pedophile is too far, so they've settled for a simple pedophile apologist

It would be just *chefs kiss* if another scandal took down a Republican in this race and Doug jones was able to win again.

Is this something that could hurt Tuberville’s chances?

In the primary? No.

But it might be enough to help Doug Jones win reelection, assuming Tuberville does win.

Nah. Jones narrowly won in a special against the actual pedophile. The next senator will be Tuberville or Sessions. Perhaps some in the AL GOP will have cold feet after 2017 and switch over to Sessions though.

Jeff Sessions firing back at President Trump again, with days to go before the runoff.

I really don't understand how an obviously apolitical guy like Tuberville, who didn't even bother to vote for at least a decade, suddenly one morning wakes up and decides to run for high office.

I'm more interested in how he's convincing Alabama Crimson Tide fans to vote for him. Remember, they hate all things Auburn.

The funny part is that Sessions went to Bama for law school and Jones went for undergrad.

I actually didn't know that.

Tuberville is leading the race for one simple reason: he's not Jeff Sessions. Alabama Republicans would vote for any other Republican over Jeff Sessions at this point, except maybe Roy Moore.

After his recusal from the Russia Investigation, Sessions began to be seen as a swamp creature by the people of Alabama.

This is on par for how Republicans have been feeling about so-called "RINOs". Just look at Tennessee, where the GOP base turned on Bob Corker overnight after he criticized Trump. Mississippi Republicans were about to throw Thad Cochran out of office before he pulled a Hail Mary with Black voters. And we saw it in Indiana with Lugar being tossed out.

Tuberville does tend to be a little more establishment-leaning than Sessions in terms of his actual political views, but he's not the one who's been a mainstay in Alabama Politics for nearly three decades.

Oh god. Also, I love how he says that Sessions has his "complete and total endorsement". Literally the exact same phrasing that Trump always uses.

Well, Sessions is already so far behind that it'll take a miracle to help. This isn't it. Moore's base is non-existent at this point.

The exact same reason why an obviously non-finance-oriented guy like Tuberville was asked to lead a hedge fund, which then went down in flames. He's an appealing figurehead for people with more money.

Tuberville didn’t vote at all in 2016.

Roy Moore endorses Sessions? Even more reason for me to want Tuberville to win.

It's just sad that Jones will lose to either one of these losers.
