How stupid are the people of Iowa? (posting in Buttigieg thread only because she is a "Buttigieg supporter" and this isn't worth making a new thread for):

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you: The average swing voter also known as a moron.

Hey, you said it.

Not for the last time, I’m sure.

Pete is absolutely killing it in rural, conservative Iowa (which is showing his bipartisan appeal for the general election):

Quote
'The red wall is cracking': Buttigieg gets ovation after expecting protests

His campaign feared hostility in Iowa’s most conservative county. But the local response told a different story.

if you think about it this actually somewhat makes sense if the voter is an ancestral democrat who happens to like buttigieg? (since he seems to draw disproportionate support from republican voters)

This is confirmation that being gay isn’t as politically toxic as people thought it would be. I am getting Obama vibes.

Even in this age of increased polarization, many American voters do not fit into a "single box", like many on this forum believe.

Supporting Bernie and then voting for Trump but supporting Medicare For All but also supporting Pete and vowing to vote for Trump again if Pete doesn't win the nomination is not indicative of "not fitting into a box"; it's indicative of not knowing what you believe relative to what the candidates you're voting for believe. And I don't blame this lady for that, she probably works a full time job and doesn't have the time to thoroughly research the candidates or their positions. This is something that plagues our democracy: our people are not incentivized to know what they're voting for. They get everything they know from whatever news outlet they have time to watch and make a decision therein.

I don't know if it's just me, but I'm thinking that being the physical embodiment of the NY Times Op-Ed section and still failing to gain the endorsement of the editorial board doesn't bode particularly well for Pete's campaign.

Thing is that Pete’s really not the embodiment of the their editorial board or even remotely close, it’s part of why they have been so flagrantly #NeverPete.  Their bias against him is easily on par with CNN’s anti-Sanders bias.

If any candidate embodies these folks, it’s Warren.

This is a legitimate concern, but isn't it also possible that we have voters who are genuinely persuadable, and aren't locked in by ideology or partisanship into merely supporting one side? I'd rather we have an electorate filled with voters who are willing to consider alternatives, then one filled with voters who refuse to compromise and cannot be swayed.

Pete has really fallen off. He is a 8% odd in early states & is probably 3rd place in Iowa & NH. I hope he gets the 15% threshold because otherwise Biden will win. He needs to spend more money & get to 15-16%+.

True, and sadly he would be one of the best candidates to take on Trump (I know, bold take) Unfortunately, the last month has been pretty bad for him. Hopefully he can revive his campaign but I have doubts.

In Iowa, Buttigieg has continued to get the largest crowds of the top 5 candidates. While crowd size is not the be all, end all(*cough*2016 Primary*cough*), i think Pete still has a strong chance in Iowa.

He's still a high tier candidate in Iowa and New Hampshire, I wouldn't call him failing.

i don’t see how buttigieg can vault past sanders and biden even with a IA-NH sweep, but so long as he thrives, it hurts biden so i’m fine with him staying in the race

Further evidence of how Buttigieg's over-eagerness to gain power leads to him disrespecting others through unforced errors. If this is an indication of his judgement, very grateful that Democratic primary voters seem to be wising up.

Really not surprising but all the campaigns that are invested in these candidates have to be treated with respect. This ISN'T the definition of low hanging fruit.

Endless negative posting about candidates on these boards won't damage them or their campaigns.

This, if anything, is very much a rookie mistake. Also demonstrates a very non-personal and minimally empathetic view of politics and campaigns. A great communications team can't fix that.

No, it’s a perfectly reasonable and logical thing to do after a candidate dropped out.  No one will care about this except folks who are going to complain about anything Pete does.  Also, sounds like sour grapes by the Booker folks tbh.
