It's really up to you. You can start with a tour announcement, an exploratory committee announcement, or a campaign announcement, and then just go from there.
Am I restricted to a month or a timespan?

No, you can announce your candidacy when you please (preferably before June, though, because of the debates). As long as you post something within the next three months, you're good.
So what month is the game in? And should I post a rough schedule of what timespan?

Wait so this thing is going to go on till June? This is going to last over a year?

It said real time in the very first post of this thread.
Wait this is in real time? So this won't be done till RL november 2020?

Yeah. Kind of gives people time to finish up other election games, allows for a more realistic simulation of the election cycle. Honestly, if it slows down too much, I might move it ahead a few months in-game.

Okay..hmmmmm

Yeah my main concern is that people lose interest.

Hey, may I join as Elise Stefanik? Has she been taken yet?
Oof, I just took her as an endorsement.

I don't know; he hasn't posted anything in this thread since he asked for his candidate.

He's the guy running the Senate simulation game, if you want to go bother him.
