It's really up to you. You can start with a tour announcement, an exploratory committee announcement, or a campaign announcement, and then just go from there.

Am I restricted to a month or a timespan?

No, you can announce your candidacy when you please (preferably before June, though, because of the debates). As long as you post something within the next three months, you're good.

So what month is the game in? And should I post a rough schedule of what timespan?

It's real time, so January of 2019. You can post schedules of anywhere from a day to a month, with any level of detail you want.

Yeah. Kind of gives people time to finish up other election games, allows for a more realistic simulation of the election cycle. Honestly, if it slows down too much, I might move it ahead a few months in-game.

I actually like this idea, but I hope players don't go inactive.

Me neither. That's why I'm open to moving things up at need.

I might run a poll about it next week to see if people want to skip ahead to June 1 on February 1 (I plan to start the debates in June).

Former US Senator Rick Santorum (PA) Throws His Hat Into Presidential Contest

Earlier today, former Republican Senator Rick Santorum, of Pennsylvania, announced that he is running for President. In his announcement speech in Pittsburgh, Santorum cited "lack of morals and values" as one of the reasons he is running:

"Today in America, we seem to have forgotten that we were always a nation of morals, values, and law. Rampant illegal immigration, abortion, and endless wars are burdening our nation."

Santorum is seen as a favorite of the conservative branch of the Republican Party, and he knows it. He will be traveling to Iowa and South Carolina to build up excitement in those conservative, early contests.

BAKER DROPS OUT
Gov. Charlie Baker (R-MA) announced Monday that he was dropping out and endorsing Gov. Phil Scott (R-VT). He said "As a fellow Northeastern Governor, I know that Governor Scott will be an amazing President. The reason I'm dropping out is because of low polling numbers and Phil and I having similar beliefs and values."

ROB PORTMAN FOR PRESIDENT

"We have a responsibility to leave this country in a better place, so that all of America's children can grow up in a safe environment! For too long, we have left our middle class behind, enough is enough! We need to provide an America that works for every single person in this country! An America where everyone can live the American dream! Which is why, I am officially announcing my candidacy for the Republican nomination for President of the United States of America! Under a Portman presidency, we will rebuild America! Thank you all, God Bless Ohio and God Bless America!"
