Anyone able to summarise the general sitch rn? I have an interest in Switzerland so I know who the parties are etc, I have just paid no attention to the election.

Results from all 3 referendums today:

https://www.swissinfo.ch/eng/vote-results--march-7--2021/46380436

# face veil ban will be approved (I wonder how many Swiss voted for it because they cannot stand wearing masks any longer, not because of Muslims ...)

# electronic ID will be soundly rejected (out of big data privacy concerns)

# free-trade agreement with Indonesia will be slightly approved (there are concerns about palm oil imports and the resulting destruction of biosphere in Indonesia)

Thanks for sharing. What a useful website!

The depressing thing for me is that it probably would have actually failed had it not been for the toxic French debate on "Islam" seeping over the border. Sometimes I wonder if the MCG didn't have the right sort of attitude towards les frouzes 😏

Do the MCG even have any influence these days? I thought they were toast having lost all their seats nationally.

https://www.swissinfo.ch/eng/politics/vote-results--june-13-2021-switzerland-co2-pesticides/46631396

Results are in - a Swiss voter can elaborate further, but the three environmental referendums (a popular initiative on clean drinking water and healthy food, a popular initiative on banning pesticides and a vote on the CO2 act) were all rejected, while the votes on the COVID-19 Act and the Counter-Terrorism Provisions were carried. The CO2 act vote was the closest.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Basel-Stadt only voted with the rest of the country on the COVID-19 Act, but was on the losing side on the other four.
