Trumpworld Anxiety Grows Over a Rising Elizabeth Warren

They once thought they’d delivered the political kill shot. But now GOP operatives are complaining that nothing sticks to Warren.

I really hope this is true. If she has a teflon coating to go against Trump's, she has a better shot than it seems against him.

Warren must really have folks sweating because this thread seems to have been invaded by fake progressives who vote Trump, and the followers of a failed political movement.

I'd love for Trump, an incumbent Republican President, to go up against yet another flawed Democratic Senator challenger from Massachusetts. Biden would probably be easier, but I'd be confident against Warren.

I'm mostly concerned about Buttigieg and a little bit about Bernie though.

Every Warren supporter I know said they thought she was DOA with the DNA test stuff and weren’t even trying to vote for her when she announced. If she can overcome that she’s fine. There’s literally nothing else to attack her on.

Warren has endorsed both Newman and immigration lawyer Jessica Cisneros in their primary challenges against Lipinski and Cuellar, respectively.

Primarying Cuellar and Lipinski is good though.  This isn't a wingnut trying to replace a normie dem like AOC vs Crowley.  These guys are two of the most conservative Democrats in the House, with very questionable and out-of-step views on a lot of issues, and their districts are safe blue so there's no reason to tolerate it.

I was talking to a woman today who has tens of thousands of dollars in cancer treatment bills on her credit card. She works full-time for a very reputable financial/insurance company and has "good health insurance". She still is going into serious debt because of her illness. How can we as a country still allow this to happen? Her husband is also a Type I Diabetic and despite having "excellent coverage" also pays a lot of money out of pocket for insulin and insulin pumps.

I will say, I've seen a lot of people on twitter and in some of the places I frequent begin to question her commitment to Medicare for All which seems... weird?

I guess because she once talked about 'access to healthcare' or something? And she doesn't talk about it as much as she does other things?

I mean, if she were ever going to pivot on the question of single payer, she's had a lot of opportunities. Like the first debate, where she didn't, and signaled her willingness to end private insurance, or the 2nd debate, where she didn't, and talked about why she doesn't believe private insurance ultimately works, or in her recent interview with Ady Barkan where she doubled down again on her commitment to it.

Like it would be one thing to point out correctly that it isn't as prominent a part of her platform/stump speech as it is with Sanders, but it seems ridiculous to argue that she's somehow not committed to it.

She always mentions her shock at reviewing research that shows most American's credit card debt isn't frivolous spending but actually medical emergencies and treatment and unexpected home/auto repairs. Warren's had a problem with the private insurance model since then. Also most of these Americans racking up debt, have health insurance, it really is inexcusable.

I am a Bernie 2016 voter who switched to vote for Trump for exactly the reasons you listed above. You see, as sjoyce said, the Democratic party is largely bankrolled by millionaires and billionaires. This is despite saying they are a "grassroots movement" and funded by small donors.

This is outright unacceptable for me - I joined the Republican party in protest to teach the Democrats a lesson. They deserve to lose for as long as they pull this kind of stuff. If the Democrats can't see the light and become a truly progressive party in all aspects, they aren't worthy of my vote.

This is why Trump won.

I’m strongly considering a Dick Cheney write in vote for 2020 if Dems don’t get it together.

Billionaire Jeffrey Katzenberg is a big-time gay rights supporter.  The Democrats have fought for gay rights for decades and ultimately succeeded in legalizing gay marriage nationwide.  Katzenberg gave millions of dollars to keep them in power, rather than letting Republicans roll back that progress.

This is fundamentally unacceptable to me and demonstrates the horrifying corruption of the Democratic Party, which doesn't give a hoot about the voter and only answers to fat cat billionaires and their deep pockets.

To teach them a lesson, I will be writing in serial killer BTK on all my ballots.  I only wish there was someone more horrible I could write in.  The worse of a person I actually vote for, the more of a lesson the Democrats will learn.

The lesson, of course, being that I am a f**ing moron and they shouldn't waste their time including me in the coalition.

The implication being that billionaires generally give to the Democrats for good reasons, and give to the Republicans for bad ones? Yeah, okay.

Warren needs to do what she can to knock down Biden chances, Warren is definitely in 2nd place and evolving as the true alternative to Biden. Who seems very Trumpian, in his gaffes and sleepiness

Secular Talk covers how Warren is now taking notes from Hillary Clinton. I'm not sure if this is going to work out well for her, but in retrospect Hillary was a strong candidate so I guess it might.

Hillary is toxic. Warren has shown that she has bad political judgement.

So Warren’s too close to Hillary Clinton and therefore a secret neoliberal, even though the big banks are scared of her and desperately want to prevent her from winning.

Another reason why I would not vote for her if she became the Democratic nominee.

There was one guy on a news program name dropping Warren like she was already the standard bearer of the Democratic Party and I loved it. We need a damn fighter. Not platitudes and hemming and hawing about how we have more in common with Republicans than differences.

 This should be an endorsement.

The candidate that has Wall Street worried is the candidate that America needs.

Jim Cramer aside, do you not believe that Wall Street wants to stop Elizabeth Warren's candidacy at all costs?  I think what he said sounds quite credible, given her record.

Wall Street is worried about Elizabeth Warren because has firsthand experience with the nitty gritty details of their game. Remember before the CFPB came into being she was the overseer of the bailout fund, which required her to become very familiar with the banks. She isn't playing around when she says she would restore capital requirements loosened under Trump. Also she was personally burned by the finance group when Rahm Emanuel and Tim Geithner teamed with the GOP Senate to veto her nomination to the CFPB.

Warren is officially a socialist now. I wonder if that will fare well to many voters. I hope not.
