Hello everyone, and welcome to the now reopened Department of Internal Affairs! This thread will serve as my office for public announcements and official actions.

I know that over the last couple of months it has seemed like not much at all ha happened which is why I will be working closely with out administration, officeholders, and the public to make sure the future of Atlasia is much improved. Feel free to tell me about any concerns you have relating to domestic affairs, the contribution of the citizens is highly valued.

Help Wanted!
For Domestic Policy Council

Attention all those interested in domestic policy! I will now be accepting applications for the Domestic Policy Council, an organization to help direct Atlasian policy. If you'd be interested in being a part of it, please send me a PM telling me why you believe you would be a good member and what you can contribute. Applications will be reviewed by myself and the president. I want to have some diversity, so I encourage anyone willing to lend a hand to apply!

Under the federal Hurricane Florence Relief Act, the Southern region was tasked with allocating $22 billion in matching funds by January 1 or else lose eligibility for future disaster aid. The Southern Region has met this obligation as found in the passed legislation below. Please accept this as notice that you no longer have to keep track of this obligation as it has been fulfilled.

This is a small thing but it's about time we did it. Former Interstate 97, now 995, had no business being a mainline route. Doing this clears up another number for an eastern highway. This was done under the authority of the Federal Highway Administration of the Sub-Department of Transportation.

One positive aspect of the whole secession crisis is that it gave a chance for both policy oriented departments to act on a crisis/event story, which was nice to see.

Diamond and cloverleaf designs are outdated, dangerous, inefficient, and not cost effective. See the Better Interchanges for Fremont Act.

Did you base this federal Internal Affairs Department decision on a piece of regional legislation? Is that okay? Also, diamond interchanges are barely well known at all, what do you mean "outdated"?

1. It makes no difference, anything relating to regional things were changed to federal things (on federally funded Interstate highways.).
2. Diamond interchanges in the past were quite commonly used.
3. They are outdated because in recent years new designs have been made which are vastly superior.

Kansas and Nebraska Flooding

Today Secretary Ninja visited rural areas of Kansas and Nebraska affected by the recent historic flooding, arriving ahead of federal workers to assess the damage and reassure the public that help is on the way. Here is his statement from Salina, KS:

Quote from: Kansas/Nebraska Statement
Hello citizens of Kansas, Nebraska, and Atlasia. As I'm sure many of you know, and many know all too well, over the past weeks many communities here in the heartland of Atlasia have been ravaged with flood water. I know that this has been a tough time for all of you, but I implore that you stay strong. There is help coming, this morning I authorized the deployment of federal relief and I'm sure that the regions of Fremont and the South are doing the same. Make sure you stay safe in the meantime, stay safe. There are still flooded roads, please, do not try to traverse them on foot or by car, and notify emergency services if anything goes wrong. Together we will make it through, as we Atlasians always have, as long as we don't lose hope.

Order #003 shall apply to affected areas outside of Kansas and Nebraska, such as but not limited to parts of Iowa and Missouri.

As I have been informed by the president that there are areas under emergency outside of Kansas and Nebraska, I am expanding the scope of federal relief aid.

Public Update, June 4th, 2019

Quote
I am making this statement tonight to let the public know what has been going on in the Department of Internal Affairs and the Tmth administration, for the sake of transparency. Just earlier I held a productive meeting with my Domestic Policy Council discussing a federal guarantee for paid time off, the opioid epidemic, and energy modernization. Soon, the president will be introducing a bill to congress setting a federal minimum for businesses to provide paid time off for their employees. In the coming days, you can also expect two directives from the Department of Internal Affairs for the FDA and the Subdepartment of Energy. I will be directing both to ramp up research. The FDA will be looking into medical alternatives to opioid prescriptions, and giving their official recommendations to alternative products as much as possible, to ensure that patients are given the safest drugs. The SDoE will be increasing renewable energy research, particularly research on geothermal and tidal energy, including methods of production and application to make these options more feasible and geographical surveys to determine where renewable sources can be best put to use. Later in the month, you can expect more legislation to be introduced into congress regarding the administration's agenda. We look forward to closing out the administration with successful policy initiatives to bring Atlasia a brighter future.

I'd like to thank everyone, and especially the President, Vice President, and members of the Domestic Policy Council for the opportunity to serve in this position, and to serve Atlasia as a whole. We've had our triumphs, I've personally been disappointed in some of the way things have turned out, and I don't regret doing this. However, lately I have really been quite disinterested, and unsavory tactics certainly seem to be on the rise, and I haven't been getting much enjoyment out of this at all. So I will be leaving Atlasia as of today. Will I return? Possibly. But I don't have much interest in staying for the time being.

We're done here.

I think everyone knows the answer to this and it sure as hell isn't "Possibly".

Anyway, thanks for your service.
