I guess this less a question and more of a rant I’ve been wanting to get off my chest. So for years now European politics has been galvanized by the issue of migrants and refugees from Syria and North Africa coming to Europe and far right groups have especially gained traction from the topic and the argument that Europe is “losing it’s values and culture”. You can’t go anywhere on YouTube without a reference to this; click on a LOTR video and the top comment will some guy with a crusader avatar comparing the migrants to the orcs. Classical music? “No Europe don’t loss great culture like this” and what not. So this really has caught fire on social media and beyond with the rise of far right/anti-migrants leaders in Italy, Hungary, and Poland.
So the argument seems to be that these groups threats to values the West have and primarily values of freedom and democracy. But here is the problem.....none of these far right “defenders of Western values” like these things either. Salvini, Orban, and Kaczynski are all in one way or another authoritans that have all taken steps to undermined democracy and freedoms. Not only them but fail attempts like Le Penn have also dabbled with authoritarian views. So if not freedom and democracy what “Western Values” are these groups saving? Powdered whigs and Mozart?

Anti-immigration sentiment is (generally) not a question of 'values' per-se but one of tribalism. Natives are seen as one tribe and Muslims/Africans etc. are another, and if the other tribe takes over in sufficient numbers they will use their power to disadvantage the native white European population. It's not that values in themselves need protecting but that there is a 'clash of civilisations' between the civilisation of Europe and the civilisation of brown migrants which can only end in the subjection of one to the other.

Obviously, I'm not of the opinion that other races should not be allowed to live in Europe, but they should only be allowed to come legally if they can contribute, and they must leave any backwards thinking (religion>secularism) behind (if they have any such opinions).

Illegals are much more likely to commit a crime (than natives or legal migrants) and will draw benefits for years before they pay anything back into the system, and this is not disputable or to be argued against, it is simply a fact.

There are many more reasons, but it's late, so I might be back tomorrow.

Fundamentally this is the argument the far right uses to try to convince non-far-righters who are liberal on some issues (such as women's rights or LGBT rights) or else are devout Christians to join their side. It doesn't carry any meaning for the true believers.
