Biden VP news megathread (pg 286 - been selected, announcement could be today)

All this post tells me is that you don't understand what fascism is, nor do you understand the existential threat that Trump poses. I didn't ask what conspiracy theorists think about the choice between Biden and Trump--I asked about what YOU think the difference is. You said you won't vote for Biden unless he picks the VP you want, which indicates that you have not been paying attention to the last 4 years or even worse, you've been paying attention but haven't been personally effected enough to care.

Fascism is not "making bad decisions" or "being painted as an authoritarian by anti-state Libertarians" and if you don't understand the fundamental parallels between Trump and someone like Mussolini or Hitler, then I suggest doing some more research before deciding to sit out this election just on the basis of "Biden picked a not-so-great VP."

Dude.... we have an iron clad constitution of checks and balances and elections every 4 years. Trump can be a friggin chimpanzee for all we care and will never..... EVER be the quote "fascist" he aspires to be. All we can do is agree that he acts that way. And you and I fully agree with this. But the point is every president for some reason or another is accused of destroying America undermining the constitution. Do me a favor and watch FAUX News if Biden wins. In 6 months he will be accused of the same crap Trump is now. You'll see what I mean then. Trust me. I get WHY you said what you did in response to me. It makes perfect sense. The difference is I've seen this play out long enough and looked at enough stolen elections (especially after 2000) to where I'm not going to react the same way as anyone else. Nor will I draw comparisons to actual fascists who have started world wars and killed millions of people because we have a President who acts like a teenage girl on twitter and belongs more on "My Super Sweet 16" than the White House.

Why has no nominee put forth like 3 names from his shortlist to the convention and allowed the delegates to vote for the VP nominee? That’d be some great drama for the networks and generate a lot of coverage of the proceedings.

The last one to let the party pick his running mate was Adlai Stevenson, IIRC, and that was back when the ticket required balance between the northern and southern wings and one couldn't be trusted to sate the other. I guess the party doesn't want to be accused of smoke-filled rooms, however true those accusations.

Listen, this is clearly an issue close to your heart (see: Not voting for fascist in your name) but at the end of the day you and I more than likely agree FAR more than you think right now. It's clear to me we disagree simply because I do not use the word "fascist" lightly. If we had more time we'd probably laugh it off.

Wow, this is terrible. I completely agree with the point they're making (I think it should be a black woman too), but why did they need to throw in there that Biden is somehow "the lesser of two evils" and "the devil we know"? No need to denigrate him before he even makes the decision.
