Man, I've gotten big onto the Duckworth train lately. I would love to see her as the pick. She would manhandle Pence.

It isn't about that, its about picking someone who will do that and not send moderate white voters into a frenzy. Bass is among the worst for this.

Based on what? None of the non-former presidential candidate VP picks have any sort of record like that. No one knows who Val Demings, Karen Bass, or even KLB are. And as black women Democrats, they’re likely going to be viewed by “white moderates” as liberals anyway. At least with Bass, she’s got experience and the progressive bonafides to step in if the unspeakable happens.

Nah, some will actively hurt Biden with white voters (ex: Bass, Abrams, Pressley) while others will simply be met with a "meh" from whites (ex: Harris, Demmings)

The assumptions this is based on are shaky and to the extent that they apply at all, I would wager they apply significantly more to Demings than Harris. The argument makes a lot more sense when considering "moderate" donors, but money doesn't vote.

How does anyone watch that and not feel like she should be the running mate? Maybe the vetting uncovered a skeleton in the closet that disqualifies her (doubt it), but to me she looks like a pick we can all get excited about.

Yep, picking someone like Harris or Warren makes the legal establishment happy but would be such an electoral missed opportunity for Biden.

My money’s still on Harris, but I wouldn’t be shocked if Duckworth got it.

I think Demings will get a spot in the administration.

I am a Duckworth fan too. The biggest knock against her would be that she is too low key and not as great a speaker as the other favorites (Harris, Warren).

Kamala Harris prosecuted a mentally ill woman shot by SF police. The jury didn’t buy it.

A) most of the stories about Kamala's prosecuting days have been very twisted and leave out context
B) a prosecutor's record is *never* going to be perfect, considering the profession.

Chris Matthews is predicting that Kamala will be Biden's running mate. Given his bullseye predictions of President Giuliani's administration in 2008 & Michele Bachmann being the GOP nominee in 2012, this is obviously a very good sign for her Tongue

Not really.  I think a lot of us just aren't that enthused about him picking her, but won't be that upset or anything.

I will admit, Duckworth has a good resume. But there's still some issues with her for me. Not to mention, again, I still think it's pertinent that Biden pick a black running mate. Duckworth is of course a minority as well, but black women have been the backbone of the Democratic party for years. It's time.

I doubt many red avs will be upset, but orange and green avs? Probably.

That’s not how that works. With that logic, Hillary would’ve won last year because “it’s time for a woman”.

Hard to imagine watching this clip and not wanting Duckworth to be VP with every fiber of your being.

I really don't want her, but I'm not going to "lose my mind" over it. It's where the signs are pointing, and Biden as nominee is already disappointing so it's expected.

I'm not sure he's going to pick Harris. I have to think the focus groups and research would indicate Duckworth is a much better option.
