It isn't that Kamala is the worst idea, I just believe Biden has better options including women of color. Demings would absolutely be a plus for all but the far lefties (Kamala will do no better here). Lujan Grisham isn't high profile but her background in public health, Congress and as Governor would be ideal. Duckworth also as a war hero has a more compelling story.

I just don't see how Kamala resonates with people. Her career is all insider, coastal politics and is heavily focused on social issues as opposed to economic ones. If unemployment is 10% and student debt is even worse in 2022, you can guarantee average voters will turn on this type of party.

This. Worst, this sets up the direction of Democratic politics for the rest of the decade. You have to look past one election. Her getting picked would be a disaster for the country, but this is the current timeline, which is of course why Biden will pick her.

Exactly. The concern is that the economy is slow to recover for people making less than 200K a year but those with fancy degrees in NY, DC, SF enjoy her version of politically correct liberalism while the rest of America burns. Another decade of low wages and more student debt/people not purchasing homes might truly set up another Great Depression that lasts longer than the current COVID shutdown. Harris donors will not push back against globalization whatsoever even if most Americans are tired of a tax code that benefits multinational corporations.

I remember a time when everyone said Obama was too much of an urban latte liberal to win in the Heartland and in the Southeast.

Yeah, she doesn't have Obama's skills at all though.

Yeah, she doesn't have Obama's skills at all though.

She doesn't have Obama's luck.

Obama was politically shrewd, intellectually flexible, and resolute, but like any skilled politician he capitalized on events--he did not drive them.  There's no reason to think Harris couldn't do the same.

If Biden were 10-15 years younger, he could pick someone with Demmings’s resume but he’s not 10-15 younger. The VP could very well have to take on the Pres job at the drop of a hat. She’s just not ready for that and won’t be ready to run at the top of the ticket in four years. Harris is.

Harris has more political experience but her entire time in Washington has been showboating for her future presidential campaign, lets be real.

Sounds like a typical politician to me (and I say that in a non-disparaging way).

I agree, she didnt stand up to the media very well when the negative press started. When she debate Gabbard, she didnt stand up to the pressure

I don't believe the list is now down to Kamala and Demings. But I hope either is being picked, because they would be excellent choices.

Lee Carter is dumb sometimes, sure. But I’m not gonna support primarying him out for some boring party liner who doesn’t make a name for themselves. I love outspoken people like him in office. Makes politics a lot more fun.

Well, he's right. Pick KLB if it has to be a black woman.

This guy is so far to the left I wouldn't worry about Demings.

No he is not. The guys out in the streets are the ones who gave Biden the nomination. Not to mention that his preferred candidate also voted for the crime bill.

Almost certainly not. Many of them probably didn’t vote and with respect only to those who did, Biden did not win the younger voters who constitute a large percentage of the protestors.

Not to become pedantic but I saw plenty of people in their 30s, 40s, 50s, and older at these demonstrations. Probably a majority of them.

Lee Carter defeated the Virginia GOP House Whip in 2017, and is opposed to gun bans, so he will trigger S019. I wonder if Fhatgn would support him. He was attempted to be primaried in 2019 but he wasn't.

Two years ago, there were more people on the forum who thought Harris would be at the top of the ticket than Biden:

Biden has had favorable press and the Tara Reade allegations came after he locked down the primary. Also, the Reade allegations were knocked off the front page due to COVID 19 and the elevated unemployment

True.  Not a ton of upside with Duckworth, but just about literally no downside.  That's honestly the best you can probably get.

but she was like, a helicopter pilot who lost her legs fighting for her country, that's pretty impressive. that would really stick it to all the ppl who say Democrats aren't patriotic and sh**t
