The NYT has a story on the veepstakes here, notes that Harris, Klobuchar, Warren, and Whitmer are all said to be "keenly interested" in the vice presidency, according to their political inner circles:

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/03/us/politics/joe-biden-vice-president-pick.html

Quote
Privately, Mr. Biden’s aides have started to reach out to Democrats who know the contenders to solicit their views. They have also had some party leaders talk directly with the former vice president about how he ought to be thinking about his decision, according to Democrats familiar with the conversations.

Mr. Biden himself has talked publicly about potential candidates to an unusual degree. He has chatted with Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan, and held personal phone calls with Senators Kamala Harris of California and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, who answered bluntly “yes” when asked on MSNBC if she would accept an offer to be Mr. Biden’s running mate. Advisers to all four women acknowledge privately that they are keenly interested in the vice presidency.

A few other tidbits from the story:

-Jill Biden is still angry about Harris’s attack on Joe in the first debate last year.

-Rep. Cedric Richmond, a Biden campaign co-chair, says he’s hoping the final selection will wait until both the vetting committee and Biden himself can interview the potential running mates in person (made more difficult at the moment because of coronavirus).

-Michelle Lujan Grisham’s sister died of the same cancer that claimed Beau Biden (which I guess was public knowledge before this story, but I didn’t know it until today).

She has been in politics too long to still be salty over that mild ass exchange.

Article on Hollywood power players opinion on who the running mate should be.  Unsurprisingly there is a preference for Kamala Harris but Elizabeth Warren has many fans too.

Quote
“My heart is with Elizabeth Warren,” says a longtime denizen of the big-bucks Hollywood fundraiser circuit who gave generously to Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton in past campaigns.

Quote
“If you are looking to light a fuse, and this isn’t about writing checks, because some may grumble but everyone will write checks, Warren is the most exciting,” says a well-heeled producer who has attended many a L.A. fundraiser for many a candidate over the primary season.

Quote
“He (Biden) needs to raise money, and if you process the chemistry of a Biden-Harris ticket, it is a pretty good album cover to attract donors on both coasts,” says an established showrunner who has seen a plethora of hopefuls come through Hollywood over the years looking for cash from the fundraising ATM.

Quote
Mathew Littman, a former Biden speechwriter who recently helped launch a pro-Biden super PAC, Win the West, said he also favors Harris. He said she has a “great breadth of experience” and, on the campaign trail, has shown she “can be very dynamic ... She would be great as the ‘lead prosecutor’ of the Trump administration.  Being the Vice Presidential nominee means you are taking it to the opponent, in a way that Joe Biden does not need to do.”

Correct me if I'm wrong, but they're leaking details like this to get free press and make every faction of the party feel heard, right?

Like, I assume there will be at least a black candidate and progressive candidate floated right up until the very end, whether or not they've been ruled out internally.

Yeah this makes the most sense to me too. It's also why Warren's still in the picture for me. Watch him turn around and pick Klobuchar now.

Keep in mind that since the Mayor of Los Angeles and the President of the MPAA are heading up the search committee, these guys are likely to have two very large backdoors into the process

Joe will definitely listen to his wife’s opinion. Jill Biden may end up saving the Democratic Party folks.

It looks like Warren, Warren is close to Jill and they spoke before Warren endorsed Biden and Jill assured Warren of no sexual misconduct on behalf of Joe.

Joe isnt a sexist but did touch females in the way females stated other than the Tara Read allegations

But since Dems are likely to control Congress thru 2024, Biden if elected will have nothing to worry about

Abrams isnt gonna be picked but will be HUD secretary in Biden Cabinet. Its traditional to pick someone from the Senate, that's why Gore, Lieberman,  Edwardsville and Biden were all selected as Veeps. Gephardt would have won the election in 2004 due his national security credentials and Edwardsville had 0

NYT report mentions Susan Rice, who is not a name that has come up #onhere with near the frequency of Harris or Abrams

Susan Rice isnt gonna be selected, and neither is Harris. It's all about Warren and whether Kennedy and Pressley will serve in Senate simultaneously

I like Susan Rice, but she has never run for elected official and might have create an opening for Republicans for smear attacks. There is a reason Obama didn't nominate her as secretary of state in 2013. However, I'd like to see her join a Biden Administration on one position or another.

Susan Rice would be a terrible choice for VP. She literally excites basically no one and the fact that her son is a Trump supporter would be highly embarrassing.

I've seen a few moderate Democratic women on Twitter suggest her to be VP and all I can do is shake my damn head.

Yeah, I really can't see it being Rice. She's certainly qualified, but she's more emblematic of Washington insider culture than any of the elected officials being considered, and would not be a good strategic pick.  Not to mention the Clinton connections that the GOP would certainly exploit. She would be in a Biden cabinet though.

It’s going to be a Senator. This is not the time to be tinkering and trying new stuff. Just pick Harris, CCM, or Duckworth and let’s go win this thing.

I was wondering what would the VP's spouse be referred as? Second Gentleman same as Second Lady or First Gentleman since they'd literally be first man in that role.

This. Conventional wisdom since 2000 is that the VP needs to be a Senator with bipartisan credentials to work with Congress. That conventional wisdom has often been wrong.

Susan Rice was incredibly disrespectful to Snoop Dogg and should be nowhere near the ticket.

Yeah it was proven bad when John Kerry picked Edwardsville instead of Gephardt whom had natl security experience over Edwardsville in a natl debate over 911, Edwardsville lost to Cheney and Bin Laden tape doomed the Veep candidacy of Edwardsville.

The other scenarios, it was proven right, Abrams will be HUD secretary,  Warren is gonna be Veep

Biden just like Lieberman and Gore severed in Senate with Natl security experience

WaPo article speculating about the pick.  Nothing super interesting but a few notable tidbits.

Quote
Our Revolution just completed a survey of its members that it said showed 62 percent favoring Warren as Biden’s running mate and 22 percent wanting Abrams. Harris, Klobuchar and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, all more moderate, didn’t break 10 percent ... “The overwhelming majority of the board is enthusiastic about Warren,” said Larry Cohen, who leads Our Revolution.

Quote
Liberal groups were dismayed that Biden’s vice-presidential vetting panel, which he announced last week, included no names close to their movement ... Black interests, by contrast, have been incorporated into the campaign.

Quote
Abrams’s open campaigning has caused some eyerolls, but several around Biden say it has not necessarily damaged her chances.

Probably because she had no chance to start with, lol.
