Duran is a million leagues above us all, she's achieving the biggest galaxy brain in history right now.

That or she's the dumbest Colorado politician ever.

Pretty disappointing I must say. They oughta fight for their lives to convince her to run for Senate instead.

Diana DeGette should just challenge Gardner herself if Duran's gonna be an idiot.

Colorado will probably have another House seat in 2022.  Could Duran just be creating the campaign structure she'll need for that race a cycle early?  In other words, maybe she doesn't necessarily plan to beat DeGette--maybe she just wants to have the resources ready to immediately lock down that theoretical open seat in 2022.  I know it's a stretch, but I'm just really struggling to make sense of this situation.

It's not like politicians being stupid is anything new. Have we already forgotten Stephanie Miner? Hopefully that 0.9% of the vote in the gubernatorial race was worth it!

Duran maybe wants to be in the majority.  Since it’s ublikely Democrats win the Senate in 2020, she’s taking her chances challenging DeGette?

If we're bringing up Neguse as a possibility, why not his fellow freshman Jason Crow? Young, telegenic Iraq/Afghanistan veteran who defeated a tough, entrenched incumbent by double digits. And it's not like his district would flip back with Trump on the ballot.

Fun fact: The very first person who was elected to represent Crow's district in Congress was none other than one of the Apollo 13 astronauts, Jack Swigert, but he died before taking office.

CO Democrats need to nominate a female- CO has yet to have a female US Senator.
KC Becker- current CO House Speaker, represents Boulder, is term limited in 2020/2022. Becker is a better statewide candidate than Duran and DeGette.
Kerry Donovan- CO Senate Majority Whip, represents Vail, located in the Western Slope region-.

Uhhh,

So who’s the nominee now
Romanoff, Johnston

This not good news for Colorade Dems.

Maybe they could bring back Ken Salazar or Bill Ritter
Also Denver politicians DeGette or Michael Hancock are both good candidates

But, if big names keep passing on this race, the list will get smaller and smaller. Not a good trend for CO Dems
Race moves from Lean D to Tilt D in my ratings, ultimately I still think polarization dooms Gardner, bit looks better for him now, than at the beginning of the year

Oh S***. The field has been blown completely wide open. Either another congressmember, such as Neguse jump in, or the field is left to Mike Johnston and Andrew Romanoff.

Why aren't there more high profile Democrats intrested yet? This is pretty much their easiest senate pick-up in 2020.

It really doesnt matter who the D is. The race is about Gardner, and the fact that he is one of the most unpopular senators in the US. Its highly unlikely he escapes such a label.

Article mentions W-era CO House Speaker Alice Madden, a key architect of the Dem takeover, and former Obama diplomat Dan Baer.

It doesn't matter. A Potted Plant (D) would probably be enough to defeat Gardner, providing said plant had no scandals.

Senator Crow is more likely, but I think Dems are going to beg DeGette. She will win them this seat and the Dems will have a rising star in her seat. Also either Salazar (Ken, John) or Bill Ritter could make a comeback.

A Potted Plant would beat Trump in CO

I think Gardner can outperform Trump by 2-3, Dems would really like a good candidate here, because they do not want this to fall into Tossup category, because Gardner is a good campaigner so, they have to consistently stay ahead to avoid risking this easy pickup

We do need a good candidate against Gardner, but I'm not too worried that Perlmutter is opting out. Or Hickenlooper, for that matter.

He has a great backstory. If everyone else passes, particularly Hick once his Presidential run (presumably) flames out, he should definitely run.

He’d also become the first millennial Senator.

While they are not top tier recruits, I honestly think Mike Johnston or Andrew Romanoff would be fine challengers to Gardner. I think either Johnston or Romanoff could win the general election.
