Did he campaign for Bush at all? Did he give him advice? I read somewhere that he didn't endorse him until after he won the nomination, but was he secretly supporting him? Did Dukakis spend a lot of time attacking Reagan?

It seems like I know a little bit about Ike's role in '60, LBJ's role in '68, and Clinton's role in 2000, but on this election, I'm just drawing a blank.

It was actually a perfect mix of Tying your self to the incumbent like Hillary did but not tying to such an extent that people doubt whether you could do anything different.
