While I think it's possible Stone is so unused to following legal norms that he's unable to do so now, I'm not 100% convinced.

The obvious alternative is that he's doing this deliberately. One reason might be to force the court's hand and slap him with a complete gag order or even imprisonment. Which could then be used down the road as "evidence" of an "unfair and biased judge" and used as a basis for appeal, or to justify a pardon.

Why can't House Judiciary just summon Trump himself?

Well he managed to convince me to donate a quarter to his legal fund. He should put that quarter in his ass, because he played himself.

I'm no constitutional law expert by any means, but even I think that would raise serious executive privilege issues.

Isn't the legislature supposed to hold the executive accountable? In the UK, the PM regularly appears before a Commons committee.

Exactly. I almost mentioned that as a distinction. Though I really wish we had equivalent of prime minister questions here.

Trump reportedly wants to win re-election to avoid indictments

I would bet Kush, Trump Jr and Trump are all under sealed indictment already.

Statute of limitations would run out for a lot of offences if he got a second term. This said, considering the health impacts of the presidency and the fact he's already an obese man aged 72, he might not necessarily be able to enjoy his liberty very much.

Also, that would likely limit any jail term. Which prison guard would want to wipe Trump's backside?

Paul Manafort has been sentenced to 47 months in his Virginia case.  He still faces sentencing in DC next week.  The sentence was well below guidelines.

Wait for next week after the second sentencing hearing. Judge Amy Berman Jackson is an Obama appointee, so she's likely to be less "skeptical".

In the UK, that could be appealed as unduly lenient.

If Mueller wants, he could continue his probe into Trump's Russian connections until the end of September....

Mueller probe already financed through September: officials

Seven years for Manafort. Buh buh but Rick Wilson told me he’d die in prison.
