From the time I got up Saturday, I have had near continuous chest pain of varying severity. This reached its worst point Sunday evening and Monday morning, so I went to the emergency room. I spent over six hours there and with that I got both good news and bad news.

The good news is that they did several tests and my heart is in good condition or so they say. This has shifted their focus to my lungs and their presumptive diagnoses is inflammation of the left lung caused by exposure to extremely cold environment (short periods of auditing overstock bins in the deep freezer at work). I would also posit that the humidity and heat exposes it to an opposite problematic extreme. It has eased, but it has not gone away. I have been proscribed medication and referred to a specialist for further testing on my lungs. This was what my primary care doctor wanted me to do last year after I had covid and the lingering chest/lung issues that it caused, but getting an appointment at the time was rather problematic obviously and then the issues with my primary care doctor moving offices caused further delays as well.

Lord Yankee I hope you are well and you persist. Best wishes.

Seems the medication also has side effects, including dizziness and nausea. So taking them at work is rather impossible and that is when I would need them the most.

That last hour or so at work was painful last night, but with the medication dosage dropping and it nearing the time for me to take it again (midnight or so), I guess this shouldn't be a surprise. The humidity really irritates whatever this is, but it is mostly just pain, it doesn't cause a breathing or wheezing issues, at least so far.

The last two days has been discomfort/swelling under the left arm, pain in the fingers, occasional numbness in that arm. I am now thinking that we were looking in the wrong place, and for the wrong problem. Sure, there is pain and discomfort in the chest as well, but it feels more now like that is a extension of discomfort caused by pain/swelling irritation in the neighboring area.

I am going to try to get seen by someone again tomorrow, though I prefer not to go back to the emergency room to do it.

Finally got to see my actual doctor on Friday. Had to pay out of pocket since her new "office" (same office just under her ownership now) doesn't have a contract with my insurance provider, yet.

She doesn't think it is heart or lung, but a sprain/strain in area of my left side or something torn in that side, which almost certainly would be a work place injury. The day before this started, there was a lot of frantic action at work (Friday July 15th) and many instances of heavy lifting above my head, which can cause this type of injury.

She ordered more x-rays which need to be done at a different office and it was too late to do them Friday, so that will be Monday or Tuesday.

As this has progressed, it has fell more and more like a sprain than anything else. According to her, the location can often create misleading pain signals since so many nerves pass through that area, hence all the pain/burning/pins and needles in various parts of my left arm.

We did the x-rays, but getting back to see the doctor is now going to be tricky and probably next Tuesday.

With all of these delays and such because of scheduling I am prone to think that if it is a sprain or strain it would be healed by the time such is confirmed by the x-ray analysis. The place I went just does them and faxes them back to my doctor.

I keep thinking today "everything is back to normal" then I will do something and instantly realize I am not. To make it worse, I caught some kind of cold on top of this earlier in the week and ended up having the very lung tightness/congestion we initially wrongly thought was the cause of my first issue.

To make it even worse, I am still obliged to do all sorts of ill-advised exertions in the course of my job, including multiple instances of "reaching over my head" because while there is a way to do this without doing that, it requires clearing spaces to be able to get ladders in and that takes too long (plus there is no where to move the pallets moved to). To make a long story short there is no way to do this safely within the time frames they insist, with the backroom clutter that is present.

Around 6 PM or so Saturday, I got early access to two of my four online college classes. Rather quickly I realized that I was in trouble.
    1. The workload exceeded what I could reasonably do in normal conditions, much less with the injury on top of my present work.
    2. The stress of both this and work would put me in a mental institution.
    3. They blatantly lied to me when they assured me these were all "mostly" asynchronous online, when in fact there were multiple synchronous elements that conflicted with my work schedule and the alternative assignments were multihour long outline processes that just buried the hole in number 1 deeper
    4. The level of surveillance was obscene. One stated the monitoring software would scan my broadband network and any other device accessing it would be flagged as AIV. The other required my scan the whole room with my webcam and any unexpected movement during the test would be flagged, but don't worry you should totally just relax take the tests and do your best. Considering I live in an infested dump, not exactly the best thing to broadcast via webcam. Considering how anxiety does such wonders for me on tests already...

By 11 PM Saturday I basically realized it was over, but it was the following night by the time I had a chance to process how quickly things had transpired and what it meant. My plans for a Bachelor's degree by 2024 are dead, as is going online as a viable medium for doing so.

I have spent the last couple of days communicating with advisors, and various offices to extricate myself from this mess with as minimal financial damage as possible.

Anger, depression, anxiety, would all be understatements describing the last three days and the physical effects of this, the compounding fatigue on top of the work injury and the fatigue and aches that is continuing to cause, were all not needed at this juncture.

Let this slide for several months. Going to have to catch up in stages. 111th is going to be the most brutal to do since it is packed with stuff, I have made over 600 posts since September and it is fully missed one index wise, whereas 110th and 112th were only halves or thereabouts.
