Cornyn still wins reelection to 4th term in 2020 & he still has aspirations to become Majority Leader of the United States Senate down the road.

Eh, I think he'd have a fight on his hands to beat Thune.

Will Olson run for statewide office again ? Railroad Commissioner is up in 2020.

According to her twitter feed, she’s exploring a run in TX-24, the suburban seat between Dallas and Fort Worth. It was a 3 point race in 2018, so she probably thinks her odds are better there than statewide, especially against an incumbent with lower name ID than Cornyn

*Sigh*

This is going to be one of those elections where the whole thing becomes a misogynistic slug fest where the GOP post unflattering pictures of the candidate, demean her character with the Clinton/Pelosi insult playbook and dog-whistle the heck out of the entire campaign.

...

If Cornyn thinks he has to distance himself from Trump, and claim that he's opposed the border wall for the past four years, then what the heck does his internal polling say about this race?

And what does that suggest about the Presidential race in Texas...

I'm with Wasserman. Cornyn wants to win back those suburban voters that left the GOP due to disgust with Trump, and has decided that pearl-clutching is the way to do it.

Never mind the fact that he's supported a man known for his vulgarity, both in vocabulary and policy.

I just hope this isn't effective.

And the whole "Cornyn is a moderate, bipartisan Senator who knows how to make progress in Washington" just feels exceptionally fake, given his record. The man was Mitch McConnell's majority whip for crying out loud.
