How do you see a fair map being drawn? I'd think a good compromise would be solidifying the 1st by removing Racine and Southern Milwaukee county and replacing it with more of Jefferson and Waukesha (pleasing the GOP), while pushing the 7th southward to include La Crosse and Eau Claire and cutting the eastern edges and giving Kind more of the immediate Madison area to unpack the 2nd. (Pleasing Dems).

What is your plan for a fair map (if Walker fails his recount attempt)?

Probably toss Rock into the Dane district. Unless Steil lives there too. Not much of a point keeping it with Paul Ryan retired

That's what I was thinking too. Have the 1st be Kenosha + Racine + Walworth and enough of Waukesha to make up the numbers.

Nah, this would be the most fair map of Wisconsin:

If it pleases the committee I would like to include my map:

WI-##: Region / Three Largest Cities / Color / Incumbent (Party) / Population Deviation / VAP White / VAP Black / VAP Hispanic / VAP Asian / VAP Native American / VAP Other / PVI (2016 & 2012)

WI-01: Southeast Wisconsin / Kenosha – Racine – Janesville / Blue / Paul Ryan (R) / -2,532 / 84.2% / 5.5% / 7.6% / 1.5% / 0.3% / 0.9% / R+1

WI-02: South Central Wisconsin / Madison – Sun Prairie – Fitchburg / Green / Mark Pocan (D) / +38 / 88.1% / 3.2% / 4.0% / 3.3% / 0.4% / 1.0% / D+17

WI-03: Western Wisconsin / Eau Claire – La Crosse – Onalaska / Ron Kind (D) / -533 / 95% / 0.9% / 1.6% / 1.5% / 0.5% / 1.6% / R+2

WI-04: Milwaukee County / Milwaukee – South Milwaukee – Cudahy / Gwen Moore (D) / +1,647 / 51.5% / 30.4% / 12.9% / 3.2% / 0.6% / 1.5% / D+25

WI-05: Western Milwaukee Metro / Waukesha – West Allis – Wauwatosa / Jim Sensenbrenner (R) / +2,730 / 91.5% / 1.6% / 3.9% / 2% / 0.3% / 0.7% / R+12

WI-06: Northern Lake Michigan Shoreline / Green Bay – Sheboygan – Manitowoc / Mike Gallagher (R) & Glen Grothman (R) / +632 / 91.7% / 1.2% / 3.4% / 2% / 1% / 0.7% / R+10

WI-07: Northern Wisconsin / Wausau – Superior – Stevens Point / Sean Duffy (R) / -1,497 / 94.4% / 0.4% / 1.3% / 1.4% / 1.7% / 0.8% / R+6

WI-08: Lake Winnebago / Appleton – Oshkosh – Fond du Lac / Vacant / -483 / 92.8% / 1% / 2.6 % / 1.4% / 1.5% / 0.7% / R+8

This map only splits one county (Milwaukee twice) and it keeps together all of the Metro areas except Milwaukee Metro and Oconto County from the Green Bay Metro.

I sincerely doubt Milwaukee county will be cracked 3-ways. Either the 1st or the 5th can have it...not both.

He literally lives in the WI-01 portion of Janesville.

Here is something I drew a while back with a 2020 projection. My goal was to draw that state like how the court redrew Pennsylvania: Massive changes that make it possible for both parties to win lost of seats, but still reflect Geography. Something that "Corrects" for geographic biases.

WI-01: 55 - 43.7 Obama, R+1, Kenosha-Racine-Janesville
WI-02: 67 - 31.2 Obama, D+15, Madison
WI-03: 60 - 38.7 Obama, D+1.5, Driftless Area
WI-04: 73.2 - 25.9 Obama, D+23.5, Milwaulkee
WI-05: 39 - 60.1 McCain, R+15, WOW
WI-06: 55.5 - 43 Obama, R+5, Mid-Cities and Fox valley
WI-07: 53.2 - 45.7 Obama, R+8, North
WI-08: 51.2 - 47.5 Obama, R+8, Green Bay and Lake Oshkosh

The change is putting Dodge and Jefferson with Dane, a move that allows the third to fully be a Diftless/Mississippi river based seat. These two moves open up some big shifts in the center of the state, which allows you to create a new Dem reach seat in WI-06.

Best case Pub scenario: 6 - 2 Rep
Best case Dem scenario: 5 - 3 Dem
