We now have Alpha, breaking the record for storms in a hurricane season. Well this just proves that global warming is for real. Enjoy your Tropical Storm Bermuda, global warming is a bitch, ain't it?

OMG! this is not a joke anymore!
I feel the pain of Wilma, just like Americans felt the one for Katrina and Rita.

They can't do that.  The names are decided years in advance.
What actually would be interesting is if any hurricane past Alpha is devestating they would have to retire the name. But they don't have a precedent to replace a greek letter in NOAA system.

The storm is going to pass right over my old town.  I'm worried but I don't think it will strengthen until it passes into the Atlantic if at all.

According to wikipedia what would happen is the greek name would simply be dropped off in the future.

They were saying last night that a worse case scenario would be if Alpha and Wilma were to meet off the coast of SC and attempt to merge.  Could bring an early nor'easter type storm to the NE states.

I don't see that happening, Alpha is dying over the mountains in hispaniola.  It may restrengthen a tiny bit once it's back over water by Alpha is almost finished.

It doesn't have to reform, but rather have Wilma absorb Alpha's moisture and energy.  I don't think the weather forecaster was actually expecting Alpha to reform.
